I just installed mine and the fit is perfect with little tolerance and I feel confident that after looking at the barrel and the perfect ease of install using the same recoil spring assembly that it is now a 357 sig and not a 40 cal.
Before I take her to the range what should I expect or be careful of?
I am so happy to get this barrel even though I paid twice the factory price(Smith & Wesson) just to get one!
Midway has the S&W barrels back in stock for $78 plus shipping. Nothing against Storm Lake but since the factory barrels are back in stock I can't see paying twice the price for a SL barrel. Especially since the factory barrels are going to be a perfect drop in fit. I wouldn't wait too long though as they seem to go out of stock quickly and it could be a while before more come in.
Too bad Midway didn't have them in yet when you were in the market. The factory barrels are cheaper but I can see how somebody might not want to wait 4 months. That's 4 months of fun a guy could be missing out on.

If I actually like the 357 like I think I will I will now be able to wait for an S&W factory barrel I started to shoot mine this afternoon but after getting stuck in bad traffic on the way home I just wanted to get home and into air conditioning.
After loading my magazine with 357 SIG 125 Winchester Jacketed hollow points I racked the slide and easily chambered a round and then added another round to the magazine, so so far the barrel is doing it's job and I am pleased with the product!
I bought my MP40 right after they came out (I think) in July of 2006. As soon as I heard about the 357 Sig barrel I put in a back order at Midway. S & W didn't have the barrels then either, for some reason. I finally gave up and canceled my order from Midway.
They eventually did get them in but I was off in another direction by then. I soon bought a MP9 compact and then a MP9 Pro. I have bought several pistols, rifles and a shotgun since then. Maybe now I will try again to get the 357 barrel. I can't imagine why S & W doesn't stock up on their own brand.
And, by the way, I have seldom had problems with any of my M & P's and no problems, ever, with my 40 caliber with many rounds through it. Great guns!
I just got my S&W 357 sig barrel from Midway last week for $78 plus shipping and it was a drop install on my 40 fs. Works great shoots great. No issues.
i also got the 9mm barrel and 9mm mags and it works just as good as well. So I now have 3 guns in one. Love it.
Unbelieveable.... guy asks for thoughts on using his new 357 sig barrel and all you guys have to talk about is what he paid for his barrel...
Ok Houdini, I'm with you, I bought ANOTHER Storm\Lake barrel for my 40c when I bought it last year. Difference being I bought the S\L ported 357 sig barrel. I didn't like it at 1st, it just seemed to be way to snappy... I felt like I couldn't control the muzzle enough to be effective. But it sure was an attention getter at the range, the blast and the muzzle flames were incredible. So I parked it in my range bag while I licked my wounds and tried to decide what to do with it and how to maybe sell it.... Fast forward to about a month ago, I had some ammo left and decided to shooot up the box before making my next move... Wawho!! I love it now, I shot it great, hit the target POA. Felt like I am in control of my muzzle with it and now throw the barrel in when I have ammo for it. I buy a couple of boxes now everytime I can, but tend to shoot em all up when I hit the range. Last time out, I had no more ammo so before I left the range, I put my 40c barrel back in and loaded up my mags with 40's.. till I could get somemore ammo..
I also have the Storm\Lake 9mm conversion barrel for my M&P40fs, love that one too but don't carry it anymore since I put in the FSS kit from APEX. For those that want to know the diff between a S&W and S\L barrel.....
Who has the S & W stock replacemment? I went to the S & W site but as usual they don't seem to know they exist. The only pistol barrels they had were S & W 22A and model 41 barrel replacements.
For the price they are asking for the 22A barrel I could just buy another 22A (I already have one) new for just a few dollars more.
Thank's. When I tried Midway I probably just asked for Storm Lake and that's the only barrel I pulled up.That's a very good price, I'll be ordering one next week.
