Was wondering how many of your folks support the Wounded Warrior Project. I getting ready to start making donations. Sounds like a super cause. These guys and gals deserve the best.
Thanks

My hunting club held a 3-D archery shoot for about 25 wounded warriors back in August. Nothin' fancy. Just some fellowship, fun and a good meal. It was HOT! Those guys didn't complain one bit. I've never been more impressed with a group of guys in my life. Don't know about them, but it sure was a rewarding experience for me.

My father in law died earlier this year at the age of 88. He was in WW II as a gunner on an A-26 https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/A-26_Invader
and later was a boom operator on several in flight refuelers. He was the boom operator in the refuel scene in the Movie SAC that stared Jimmy Stewart.

Before his death, he requested that donations be made to Wounded Warriors in his name in stead of flowers. I followed his final instructions.

Strategic Air Command is one of my favorite movies, starring the one and only Jimmy Stewart. Talk about a patriot...as an established Hollywood star, he joined the Army Air Corps in WW2 and flew B-24s in combat in Europe! Can you imagine any of today's movie stars giving up his career to risk his life for his country?

Thanks for posting this...and thanks to your late father-in-law for his service to our country. :-)

Don't forget the troops during the Holidays.
They get very homesick this time of year. A donation to the USO can help provide a little cheer for those stuck in some bleak spots.

Its all appreciated

Yep check to ensure they are legit! There are more and more phonies.

Where I'm at, I run into service members at restaurants all the time-I buy these kids a meal when I can-
At the airports you'll see them coming and going-with family members-just shake a hand-or again buy them a meal.
I came accross a platoon at the airport-and shook the hand of every soldier.
We owe them a debt too great to ever repay-The face of some young person who has lost a limb fighting over there, is the face of thousands who have fought our battles since the beginning of our Republic.

My last Donation went to SUDS (Soldiers Undertaking Disabled Scuba).

SUDS Diving > Welcome to SUDS

We had alot of new and used diving stuff, which we didn't use. So we decided to sent it to SUDS. Hopefully someone in need can enjoy some free equipment...

I competed in Tough Mudder and I let them shave a Mohawk on my head, because they needed one more person to reach the goal of donating 150,000 dollars to the wounded warrior project at the start of the last set of racers :).

Here in San Antonio, we have a lot of wounded warriors going through the hospitals, especially the burn center. There are several Fisher Houses for the families of these heros. There are many civic and church groups that give support for them.

My church sends a group 3-4 times a year to serve pizza and ice cream to about 300 people at one of the Fisher houses. The ladies in the church knit "lap robes" for those in wheelchairs.

I am also involved with a group of retired LEOs and we contribute several thousand dollars each year to an organization that provides recreation opportunities for those going through rehab at the military hospitals. They set up things like camping, fishing, hunting and other fun things for them to do. Many recovering from severe burns are able to do most normal activities and help those with missing limbs.

I signed up for auto deduct only $19.00 a month, they are legit and a worthy cause. DAV is another , I hate to use the word charity, these people more than earned everything we can do for them.

What everyone else says. Wounded Warrior is in need of, and well deserving of your support. We use the monthly automatic contribution option. Absolutely painless and we don't miss it. Even if we did notice it, we wouldn't change a thing.

My daughter is in the military. This is her with her cousin Iron Mike. He's An Afgan Vet. She's EOD yet to be deployed. She was at White Sands last month destroying old ordinance. I make a sizable donation to the local Soldier, Sailors and Marine fund every year. The have helped me out in hard times in the past . Our military are finally getting the recognition they deserve and for us not to support them in some small way is a crime. There are families out there who don't have enough food on the table, can't pay the electric bill, don't qualify for food stamps or state support because the husband or wife has a job. DO SOMETHING. You don't think $10 makes a difference? If every person on this Forum sent that amount it would be phenomenal. Never think your little bit dosen't make a difference.
God Bless our Troops
