My father in law was Coast Guard LT. This is a photo taken the day he picked up a LST in Pittsburg and took it to the Pacific.

This is a drawing we found after he died. I would have liked to hear about it.

Went to see the recruiter on my 17th birthday. February 11th 1952
Sworn in March 6th. That's 65 years ago. Amazed that I could make
such a smart decision at that tender age.

47 years ago yesterday I arrived at MCRD San Diego for recruit training more commonly referred to as Boot Camp. I stayed 8 years and finished with another 14 as an Army National Guardsman.
