Did I get a bad deal?!? I thought it was about right!!!

You should see the unfired revolver that "didn't come with the box" per ebay rules.....

I only wish LOL..... what do these typically bring in super shape? 500? 600?

I can't read the number on the bottom....My only thought is that someone has the Gun to match that box.But that does not make sense that the 2nd highest bidder would bid that high....Two people can't have the Gun that goes in the box.

People are just plain nuts. And I threw out all the boxes that my guns came in. Oh, maybe it's me that's nuts.

HUH ????? I simply can`t imagine the arrogance that sale implies. I know about conspicuous consumption and all that, BUT if I had that kind of disposable income I would be using it for charity or some worthy cause anything is a lot better cause than an empty box. What a wasteful shame!

My first inclination was to think someone's just lost their mind.

But the more I thought about it, I came to the conclusion that if you're a deadly serious collector, you'll probably do anything and pay what's necessary to add a needed item to your collection...especially if you have the gun that matches this box.

And if the winning bidder does have the gun, and it's in good or even pristine condition, the value of it just increased by...what?...50%? More than 50%?

What do you think...what would your guess be as to how much the box would increase the gun's value?

A not so wise auctioneer once told me this after I saw a gun on his desk months after it set a record high price to a left bid. "Sometimes you have to make your own records." I have a hard time believing that an empty box would bring that kind of money. If a person had the gun, what would make the under bidder bid so high? Smells fishy to me.

How do you know they arnt? maybe this is the one purchase a year they allow themselves. Same can be said for buying a $700 gun. If you have that kind of disposable income you should give It to charity. how about multiple guns? if you have the kind of disposable income to afford more than one gun you should give it to charity. simply wasteful to buy more and more.

still stupid money for a box

I don't think there is a thing fishy with the sale. These boxes have topped $1k before and in far worse condition. Someone has a creampuff gun they want a box for, maybe someone has THE gun; I'm not really all that surprised with the final price.

So maybe the buyer is generous to worthy causes and the nicest Gentleman in all of Christendom , but in My humble opinion it is still a wasteful shame. I have a good job and a decent income, but I still don`t waste it on such frivolous things!
Sure I buy $700 guns and more than one of them, but its only with money left over from/after worthy causes.

It seems to me that it's next to impossible for anyone to have purchased the box who also has the gun that belongs in it. The person with that specific gun would have to be extremely lucky to stumble on the auction and see a box that originally came with his gun. Is that particular gun worth what was paid for the box? Are these people insane?

But still....that money left is being wasteful. It's kinda arrogant to assume what people do with their money
