I replace all my used pistols with Wolff recoil and firing pin springs. I got my 3913 kit yesterday and the package is marked 3913/3953, etc. I replaced the firing pin and went to put the recoil spring in. It is far too long. The package is marked factory standard. This must be for a full size gun. Is the firing pin spring any different? They might have messed them both up. I'll call Wolff and I'm sure they'll do right but this new spring ain't going in.

Good idea to change springs in newly aquired used guns, particularly when you don't know the history of the gun. IMO, OEM springs are best, unless you are unable to find them.

Brownells and Midway both carry the S&W 3913/3953 OEM springs.....
(I think MGW also has some of the factory springs and parts)

The new factory 3913/3953 spring is 4.5 inches long, wire diameter is ≈ .038".

Yeah, but I've used Wolff in dozens of guns and never a problem. This must have been a spring put in the wrong package.
