Smith & Wesson 5" 38/44 Heavy Duty. For Sale- No Trades
I find it difficult to part with this gun and have gone back and forth over the past 4 years as whether to sell it or keep it... Today I'm leaning toward selling...
We all know how scarce they are and what beat-up shooters are going ... The 98%+ safe queens are commanding very high dollars and most 95% are typically over a grand. I believe this one will hold it's value and should appreciate over the years.

The S/N of S92,5XX places its manufacture date about 1952, but it's hard to say when it was actually shipped. It has the grooved service trigger and checkered hammer. The cylinder chambers are original 38 Spl. and have not been reamed to 357. There are no bulges in the barrel.
The bluing is in good condition with slight wear at the muzzle, sight blade and minor handling marks elsewhere. I estimate it to be better than 95% but you make up your own mind from the pictures.
I do not have the original stocks which probably were Magnas. The target stocks pictured are not the originals but I prefer them for shooting.
The gold box is not numbered so I don't know if it is original to the gun or not.
At the moment I am selling the gun and box together. I may break them up but only if the gun sells first.
Buy both the gun and the box together…$1500.
11/28 REVISED PRICING----------------
Buy the gun only $1175 Shipped CONUS
Buy the box (only after gun is sold) $450 shipped.
all other conditions still apply
------------------------------------------------------------
Payment: I do not support paypal but can accept Chase quickpay or Wells Fargo money transfer, Cash (if FTF near Tucson) or US Postal Money Orders only -(not one from wal-mart or other 3rd party companies). You might have to get multiple MO or quickpay as some places limit the total value of one payment.
I need to receive Payment within 7 days of you posting you are buying it or the deal will be considered null and void and feedback left..
Shipping will be from my FFL to your FFL of choice or to a buyer with a C&R license. An Original signed copy of current FFL or C&R is required - blue ink signature preferred.
The cost of Shipping & handling, Insurance, adult signature and my FFL's fee are now included in the prices. Last time I checked, my FFL charges $50 to ship a handgun USPS across her books + Insurance and added USPO services. On average with insurance others have come to $80-100 total-
The gold box will be double boxed and shipped separately due to fragility of packing both together.
I'm not a dealer so I do not accept returns. if you have questions, PM me and I will try to answer them.
I don't deal with the unreasonable seller registration laws of California and other similar states, so I will not sell to anyone in any state that also registers the seller of a gun. I believe that includes NY, MD, Hawaii and maybe a couple others... you know who you are.
So there is is, all forum rules apply, first post of 'I'll take it' plus a PM with contact details (phone, email etc) gets it.
