Trade in progress!

Spring cleaning applies to the safe as well. Going through my collection, I tend toward the N frame magnums and pre-model number K frame target guns. So the pre-39 (or Smith and Wesson 9mm Automatic Pistol if we're being accurate) I stumbled into back in 2019 is a bit of an anomaly. I also go for high condition shooter grade guns, and the pre-39 is just too rare to get shot. I put two magazines through it back in February 2019 and nothing but a silicone cloth wipedown and storage in a dehumidified safe since.

I know there are certain members here that go ga-ga for the pre-39s and mine would get more love with them than me.

Mine is serial 1173 so among the first two hundred. Shipped from S&W in September 1955. Factory letter (included) states it shipped to the military PX distribution center in New York State. While not a military trial gun, it is no stretch that it was originally purchased by a U.S. servicemember given the shipping destination, but there's no way to guarantee that.

Won't spend too much time on the history of these pistols --- if you know, you know. There were approximately 1600 made before small changes were made and they were marked as Model 39s.

Condition is very good with all original parts, but some nicks and missing finish on the alloy frame plus a scratch on the upper part of the slide visible in pictures #1 and #3. The pictures tell most of the story but I can take closer shots of certain spots or the bore if requested. In addition to the letter, the pistol will also include the original steel follower S&W marked magazine (one). I do not have a box or any accessories/literature.

It is difficult to price a gun like this so I'm doing trades only. Below are some particular trades I've been looking for. I can add cash for the right deal. Please use PMs and I'll let you know.

P&R N frames (especially looking for a 6" or 6.5" 29 or 57)
Lew Horton snubs (especially a 657)
Mountain Guns (non .44 Magnum --- already have one)
pre lock 627s
327JM
pinned barrel 48 (6" or 8-3/8")
prelock 617 10 shot
Coonan .357 auto
high end 10mm 1911 (like a Dan Wesson)
prewar S&W and Colt target sighted revolvers
Colt 1911s (especially a .38 Super)
high end AK pattern in 7.62x39
high end AR in 6.5 Grendel
high end AR pistol in .300BO

Prefer to deal with the other SWCA members here, but open to anyone in good standing. I'd be shipping from an FFL so any C&R or other concerns would need to be worked out with them. I am not a C&R license holder. Payments to make up differences in value can be handled by USPS M.O. or, if on your end, by which payment method you're comfortable with.
