WVPSC 4566TSW

Okay gentleman now that these guns are hitting the market, the next question is which holster makers are currently making a good product for them, both with and without a light? Enquiring minds would like to know.

Good question, but mine is probably going to become a Safe Queen - theses give new meaning to the word Heavy - or maybe I am just more used to my 5906/5946 and 39xx Pistols

How much heavier are these than the 59xx guns? My early 5906 weighs a ton. I was a lot younger when I carried it and now would want a trailer to tow it around with.

My previously issued WVPSC 4566TSW weighed in at 39.6 oz on my wife's trusty digital kitchen scale.

It may be just my imagination - in theory, I would have thought a 5906TSW is slightly heavier than a 5906, but the TSW variant should be about the same as 4566TSW.

Sounds right - I dug out a couple of old catalogs 1996,1997,1999, & 2003 - here are the numbers per SW Catalogs (all unloaded) (Note there is some minor variation in published weights by year typically less than 0.2 oz)
Probably 4566TSW loaded and 5906TSW loaded close but 5906TSW slightly less weight - probably not that noticeable.

4506 40.5 oz
4566TSW 39.1 oz
5906TSW 38.3 oz
5906 37.5 oz
4006TSW 37.8 oz
4516 36.5 oz
4056TSW 36.5 oz

5903TSW 28.9 oz
457 29.0 oz
4513TSW (8rd) 28.6 oz
4013 27.0 oz
4013TSW 26.8 oz
6906 25.6 oz
3913TSW 25.1 oz
3913 Lady Smith 24.8 oz
3913 24.8 oz
3953TSW 24.7 oz
CS45 23.9 oz
CS40 24.2 oz
CS9 20.8 oz

It's here! I picked mine up today and it is as advertised, I'd say 95%, just a couple of scratches on the delrin grip. I'm looking forward to taking it to the range. I already have a 4566TSW, regular stainless model with the mustache rail - gonna list that one for sale now that I have this nicer model.

Update - I disassembled and cleaned it last evening. Night sights look to be 50% or so, still useable. It was pretty clean already, didn't need much more than a good wipe down. Internals look good and I think I'm going to leave the grip as is for now.

Received my invoice today for one new unissued and one lightly used. I am very excited to see them when they arrive at my LGS. The new one is probably destined to be a safe queen while the other one is going to get shot, (how much depends on .45 availability and price). Thank you nitmr26 for the post. I've been looking for one of the WVSP guns for years.

After trying to find someone to make me a kydex holster for this gal and coming up empty..I took a crack at it myself.. first one worked.. but I learned a lot.. making a holster to work with a weapon light is much more difficult then one without!! Second time worked much better!!

Picked mine up Tuesday, it's been a busy week. I am more than happy with them. It is difficult to believe that the used one has had any rounds through it. Except for a little wear on the barrel hood, it looks brand new. Also does anyone happen to know when these were shipped? The fired round that came with each one is dated 2013 and I did not think S&W was still making them that recently. Here are some pic's of the "used" one.

Yes they were still making 3rd gen pistols in 2013 - in Houlton, Me - special orders, mostly 3914DAO, 3953TSW, 5946 for NYPD, and Police Dept buys in minimum order quantities (saw somewhere they would not accept orders less than 100 units but apparently these were piggy backed on larger order per seller).
And per SW, my 4566TSW out of same source was dated by SW as 3/16/2013

I recently came across a Smith & Wesson dealer that had a listing for former West Virginia Public Service Commission 4566TSW pistols. According to the dealer, the WVPSC purchased 83 pistols on the same contract the WVSP used to purchase their 4566TSWs.

The WVPSC pistols have an integral rail, tritium sights, decocking (only) lever, and Melonite finish. The left side of the slide is marked with "Smith & Wesson, Houlton, ME U.S.A". The right side of the slide has no markings.

Does anyone have documentation of orders - either Police order or WVPSC order - particularly S/N range of 83 pistols - we know 8648 (not 8646), 8697, 8844, and 8853

I do, but your going to have to wait for a giant post on the WVSP and WVPSC pistols coming this weekend. It will have production quantities, but it doesn't really bookend the serial numbers; however with the help of this community we can probably nail it down.
