Several years ago I purchased a cylinder from a forum member that had been properly bored out from .455 to 45LC. I never did a performance test with the it. This test was done two weeks ago and the date stamp is not correct. The test produced very positive results at 15 yards slow fire. Here are the range results: loading the cylinder was easy, cylinder timing was correct, the cylinder is a perfect fit. Bullet was a 45LC RNFP 200gr cast bullet over 5.6gr of HP-38. This S&W revolver has been refinished with a highly buffed glare. Very faint military stampings are present and the barrel has no caliber markings, the S&W logo is stamped on the sideplate. The serial number is 9980 on the frame grip, all numbers match for the .455 configuration. Modified cylinder serial number is 53516. i love this project gun! The Colt 1911 22LR was a companion shooter.

I have one of each, 455, 45Colt, and 45 ACP. Prefer the 45 Colt for accuracy. The good news here is that heavy buffing usually does not change the quality of the action or the accuracy, so if you wanted a N frame shooter, you got one there!
As far as the high glare polish, original guns were high polish and beautifully finished. I have one factory original the shows the factory blue.
