WWII unit ring

I thought this might interest some WWII buffs..
My Dad passed this ring on to me..
He served with the 79th Infantry during WWII.
This ring has the inscription, on the outer portion..
79th Infantry Division..
Inner portion, D-Day Normandy
Innermost is a crest of the Cross of Lorraine..
