I've been watching "The Last Days of WWII" on Netflix --------- 26 episodes.

It dawned on me that none of the Japanese wore helmets. Now that I think about it, I don't remember ever seeing any footage of them wearing helmets. Just uniform caps.

Surly they must have helmets and I missed it ....... anyone know ?

I've seen too many newsreel and still images of Japanese wearing helmets to count, the storming of Corregidor by Japanese combat engineers being just one of many.

When I was in high school I had a rusty one, split down the center from an impact, sitting on my shelf. Paid some small pittance for it, maybe ten bucks. At the time, they were still being dug up in piles on some Pacific islands. The Japanese helmets were apparently not very thick steel, nor always the best quality. Anyway, save when in direct action, they weren't worn since they were hot and uncomfortable, the same as old US steel pots were.
