My pal and I did a range trip Sunday am.I took a Kimber 1911 and he took his Springfield XD45.Ammo was 200gr SWC.The Kimber was flawless but his Springfield absolutely refused to digest them. Two rounds would cycle at max but most of the time only one.Anyone else experience this.I naively thought the XD series would feed anything. He has never had a problem with ball or hollowpoint.Gun has about 600 rounds through it.Maybe more breaking in?Thanks for thoughts or opinions.

Ammo

I suspect the problem is that the ammo is not powerful enough to fully cycle the slide. I've tried some of my 200 gr. LSWC reloads in my XD-45 and have about a 25% failure rate. That same ammo shoots fine in all my 1911s.

A fellow shooter had the same problem with his XD-45 and his 200 gr. Berry's copper plated SWC reloads - failure to fully cycle the slide and plenty of jams. (His ammo shot OK in my 1911s.) He increased the powder charge in his loads and the XD-45 now works fine.
