I had never seen these packages before . I got three of the eight they had . At $ 69.97 a box not the best price , but not too bad .

Never saw these before ~.47 per round for 5.56 62 grain. Have to check Wally World around here to see if they have gotten any in.

Nothing wrong with that price today. My local Wally's here in NV had Fed 100 rd packs of .45ACP ball at $34.97. That's not bad either. Outside of some .32ACP, no other handgun ammo.

I purchased some as well

I was a little surprised as to how many rounds had dents and digs in the shoulder and body area of the brass.

Two rounds were damage to the point of they had to be pulled.

One had dents on both side resulting in the neck and the bullet being
visibly tilted to one side, the other was deeply dented in a teardrop shape that matches the case head of another cartridge.

I've read that bulk packaging means they are factory 2nd's, but I was still a little disappointed.

I definitely will inspect each round before loading it into a mag.

Is this the norm for the Lake City surplus bulk packs like this ?
When I purchase this ammo in the 20rd boxes it is in much better condition.

Thanks

About a week ago I found a Winchester value pak of 100 rds. of .45 ACP ball... $44.95 plus tax. So... your local price is excellent. In fact, before the panic, that is the price WM was charging in this area for that item.

Here in Ohio our local WM have had 1000 rd XM855 $447.00!

I don't have to be taunted by such ammo at our local Walmart, the only ammo they have received this year is some shotgun shells. The guy at the ammo counter said they got a few boxes of 22rf a month ago, but they were pre-spoken for and sold before they ever got put under the counter. Except for shotgun shells, when the store had ammo, it was kept under the counter and out of public view. You had to ask the counter guy if they had any ammo and if they had what you wanted. I have come to believe our sporting goods manager is maybe anti-gun. Unfortunately the next nearest Walmart is over 20 miles away, and they seldom have any ammo either.

They have a couple of those boxes over the past two months here in Ames. Every two weeks or so get Tula metal .223 in at a good price and have not sold out of 7.62x39 Tula in about a month.

Still have lots of stock on Federal .45 and a bit of .40.

They have brass .223, 9mm and .40sw from Tula also.

XM is rejects. At one time, most of the rejections were based on cosmetic type flaws, but now there are a heck of a lot that are WAY over pressure. Bad enough that even if you have a true 5.56X45 chamber (not likely except in tier one guns, no matter what the barrel says), there is a very real risk of popped primers and other (even worse) bad stuff. Be VERY careful.

I picked up a 1000 round box at a Walmart on the South side of town. These all look pretty good. It's my understanding the XM are seconds. MidwayUSA were selling 420 round cans (Federal/Lake City) on stripper clips and they claimed they were first quality.
