The weather finally improved and the wind wasn't too stupid, so I got to shoot outside today for the first time this year. All shooting was done with the flat base 10 round magazines using 95 grain flat point handloads loaded to Winchester White Box flat point velocity out of the gun.

The first thing I did was try a 10 round magazine dump on a USPSA type steel silhouette at 18 yards. I shot it cold (no practice) from an IWB Black Scorpion holster strong side with no cover garment. I was rusty but hit all 10 inside the silhouette in 6.88 seconds. The first shot was a slow 2.79 seconds and the remaining 9 averaged .45 second splits. I did record it using my GoPro, but it was set on WarpSpeed for some reason, and it is very fast. I can post a link if you want to see it for some reason. I did a second run also clean in the mid-fives, but I only had 9 rounds in the magazine. Duh. Not impressive, but not bad for a first 2 runs. I should be able to improve those times substantially.

The next run was on a plate rack at 16 yards from the same holster open carried. The camera ended up working at normal speed this time. The overall 6.74 was slow, with a 2.22 first shot, and the remaining 5 shots averaged about .9. Here it is:

The third drill was a walk back to see how far back I could hit the top 2/3 of a pepper popper type target. I am fairly confident that I can extend the range yards with a little practice. Also, looking at where a lot of my misses hit leads me to believe that a larger USPSA/IDPA target would have resulted in farther distance. Here it is:

Having real sights makes a big difference. The XS Sights and the BG 2.0 make a very usable combination for me. I expect I can do much better after working with the gun at longer distances.

I know we have a lot of better shooters than me on this forum. Post up your BG 2.0 results with whatever sights you prefer.

That's really good shooting out of a little BG2. The wind may have been a factor in your hits.

15 yards will be my serious long distance accuracy testing. 4 and 7 yards will be my primary fast shoot testing with my goal to get 3 rounds in the A zone.

I can do up to 25 yards at the indoor range, longer means I have get to the outdoor range. Just for gits & shiggles I'll try some hole-punching at 25 yards this Saturday.

Wow, not sure I could match that. I’ve only been working 7-10yds with mine and after adjusting the XS sights it’s pretty good. I could probably adjust them a bit more but I’m happy with the accuracy in that range.

Bifocals and iron sights aren’t a great combo but I can get good hits.

Agreed - XS R3D green sights for me make the real difference. Something like them should have been stock items.

Most people prepare to defend themselves under "ideal conditions." They aren't going to put thousands of rounds through their .380s over concerns about a worst case scenario or because they enjoy the challenge of getting a small gun to do fun stuff that nobody believes they can do. So, I can understand why S&W did what it did and kept the street price under $400. I do appreciate that they built the model tough enough to endure a lot of shooting. The sights I can fix.

I prefer orange vs. green dot on the front sights and up this way this pistol cost $450. Put 1,200 through mine so far and plan to do quite a lot more.

I posted a video in the Facebook group "Smith and Wesson Bodyguard 2.0" of me shooting an 8" plate at 25 yards with consistant hits. Will be moving back to 30 yards on next video. Only thing changed was the sights. Become a member of the group; lots of good information there.:

EDIT: Just added it to a YouTube channel.

Very nice. Bravo!

Before heading to the range, I did make another adjustment to the front sight by drifting it with a hammer and punch.

Yesterday 4 of my range buddies (retired military, LE, and high security professionals) shot my BG2. They all said that it is accurate enough for 4 and 7 yards One guy said “it’s a little snappy”. He had been shooting his Canik TP9SFX.

I will do more testing while getting the round count up, but for now the factory sights will stay on. Next range day I will test for POI with each hand and double and triple taps. I will also test at 25 yards just out of curiosity.

Something happened to me while shooting my BG 2.0 that rattled me for a few seconds.

We live very rural and shoot on our place. I must have gotten comfortable because I shot without my hearing protection on!! It has been decades since I've done that and for a couple seconds it really rattled me. For about 3 seconds I was bogged down wondering what just happened.

Since the .380 was not horrible loads like a .357 magnum my ears had just a tiny bit of ringing. I think I will shoot one or two shots a year from now on so that I will know that I can do it!!

Don't recommend this as a training item, but it made me more confident that I can shoot with out my ears on if I need to.

Do it enough and it won't be loud anymore.

As a kid that is how we shot. I can still hear the ringing.

I am still interested to see the Big Dot that XS has said is coming for the BG 2.0. Seeing how well the R3D is working out it could be a hard sell.

First time poster, I purchased a Bodyguard 2.0 and just installed the XS Sights. The factory one's were a chore to remove but the XS Sights were not difficult to install. Big improvement for me as far as locating a quick sight picture as my other concealed carry firearms have a small slot rear sight. The green just work's for me personally.

I sent an email to Trijicon and asked when their sites will be available for the 2.0.

I called Trijicon and was told not discussed yet. So it will be a while. I just bought a set of green XS R3D sights for $99.99 from XS.

I can't imagine a bigger dot on the front vs. the current R3D but I guess that's possible.

I've decided to send the XS sights back. The 2.0 is really a point and shoot pistol. I decided not to pay $100 for the XS sights and another $65 to install. I'm fine with the stock sights at the range.
I'd rather go with the $165 toward another 2.0 when prices come down. One to carry and one for the range.
