I was hanging out at a LGS, when the counter guy says make an offer on any die set. We go through the sets and come across two New Old Stock (circa late 70's) Brand new Lyman 32 ACP (not carbide) die sets without price tags. We pulled them out and gave the a good once over. My offer $10.00 Cash OTD. Offer accepted! I already have both shell holders! Then he starts going through the bullet moulds. The only non-common or one I want, is a 83grain 32 RN, again New Old Stock. $10.00 Cash OTD offered and accepted! (That one had an old price tag of $54.99)

I have always borrowed my best friends dies and bought bullets, so did I need this deal? Need has nothing to do with it. I am once again high on the hog! 32 ACP, Short and Long will be no problem. If I need H&R or 327 loadings we will see then if this works (I would guess it will!)

Anybody else finding year end close-outs, that are too good to pass up?

A smoking deal and like the other poster said a great guy behind the counter. I got my PSA AR 15 lower today and paid my $10 transfer fee. I completed my AR 15 rifle build and its ready for the range when it stops raining.

Yes sir......It's not always about, Black Friday.

Year end can be a great time if you know where to go and dicker a little.

My wife hates it when I try to knock off a little.
Heck, its part of the game or fun of business in the good old US of A.

PSA had a nickel boron AR bolt carrier on sale for $89 but I thought about it too long and missed out. The wife and I bought our last two used cars between Christmas and New Years. You are practically alone in the dealership and they need to reduce inventory. If you walk in as a cash buyer you can squeeze them until they start to tear up a little.

Same shop, several years ago (before background checks on normal guns). I bought a un-remembered DA revolver and a pair of SS Ruger Vaqueros (all used). I didn't want the multi handgun form filled out so I was going to put the pair of guns on lay away. He didn't want the guns in innovatory for property tax reasons. So a great price was reached, the guns were all paid for then. The pickup dates were a week apart, but the tax was avoided. (Transfer takes place with possession, Innovatory takes place with payment.)

Last 2 days of the month are always the time to buy a car. A friend of mine bought 2 cars at the same time. The sales man took no personal commission, but he won the High Salesman Contest, with a cash bonus and a trip for him and the wife. Great price on both vehicles and the salesman's with was happy. Two men understood the old adage: Happy Wife: Happy Life!

Many times I've got great deals buying in August! Consumer cash goes to Vacations and Back to School Clothes! Back in the 90's I hit every gunshop in Central Ohio: they all had a box of take-off grips. I would offer $20-25 Cash for the whole box; it worked, every store sold to me! I had around $1 per set of grips (around 500 grips) I put them in baggies with a label of what they fit and sold them for $5-25 like crazy at gun shows, I still have about 150 of unpopular grips, But I have ZERO in them! (I'll make a deal to a young guy some day!) (my brother sell stuff on-line, and complains about the customer hassles, I only sold for cash at shows and everybody walked away happy!) (I would always walk in the house and hand my wife $200-300 in cash, she didn't care what I bought or how much cash I spent![or kept] Again: HAPPY WIFE, HAPPY LIFE!!!)

The key is always: CASH Money Talks, it speaks louder when the bills need paid!

Back to your OP, Ivan... the die set you have is the basis for a nearly universal 32 set. Lyman offers their TC die in 32 as a single item, and it will decap and size any straight case from 32 ACP to 327. With the #9 shell holder to go with what you already have for the ACP head, you will be good to go, loading anything straight sided from 32 ACP and 32 S&W through S&W Long, H&R, all the way up to 327 Fed Mag. I've seen the TC dies on fleaBay for about $25 to your door, so you you would still be into that set RIGHT! :D

I agree. I used to load my ACP rounds, on a Lyman All American, 32 S&W Long die set. I don't load enough 32 anything to justify a Carbide die that isn't clearance priced! All the brass I have saved up will take less than a few hours to reload. even with lubing and cleaning the lube back off!

I have found 10 to 20 H&R brass and no 327 Fed brass, so I'll worry about them when that becomes an issue.

The bullet mould on the other hand will get a workout soon. I plan on casting between 500-1000, and sizing them to .309, .311 & .314 (if they are big enough). They will work in the Broomhandle Mauser too!

Thanks for the heads up, even though I checked it out back when H&R came out. :)
