I was just wondering what the purpose of the piece of plastic at the bottom handle is for? Its kinda loose and looking up where you slide the magazine into you can see where it looks like you can slip it so it will come off.

Whats this for?

To keep crud out of the frame. When I got my Sigma, it was too loose and fell out during shooting. A call to S&W got me a replacement one that hasn't budged. If yours is loose, call customer service.

They put it in there so we could look...and wonder...

joking...

I think it is just so that when you put the mag in it will be flush. Without it there would be a drop off when the mag was in and that would look ugly.

But I'm just a newb to these pistols so don't mind me...

:D

Thanks for the fast replies.

I wish the manual actually offered more information. Instead of having 10 thousand warnings about making sure its not loaded.
