I know how everyone loves these threads and I've been researching all day, so I figured I'd just ask!

OK, I'm going to be picking up some more Speer 9's this week. I already have a box of standard 124 gr. Question is: should I stock up on more standards or +P? If I can get my grubby hands on short barrels, do I get them instead?

I was also wondering if anyone has anyone has had any issues with the standard loads?

THANK YOU ALL, in advance!

I shoot Lawman & Gold Dots and have never had a problem with either. As a matter of fact I reload 9mm and 45 using Gold Dots I'm not a fan of +P so I always use the standard loads. My top 2 factory SD/HD rounds are 147Gr Gold Dots and 115Gr Critical Defense.

Exact ammo I use for my Shield in 9m and Beretta Nano. IMO best ammo for these pistols.

I like this test and clearly the short barrel out preformed, but there's no tests on standard non +P Gold Dots out of the gun. That's pretty much my question, will those preform worse than the +P?

Will your gun KAABOOOM with +P? No! But it will put a lot more wear on it. If you want +p buy a box of 50 and try 1/2. If you like it and the gun functions fine then carry that ammo.

Ive shot +p and +p+ through and old Llama and a 1943 German Luger. One mag of each ammo through each gun. They dont blow up. Both guns were in good condition. I also carried +p in my Kahr CW9. While there is no standard for +p no company is going to make ammo thats out of the safety zone of a modern handgun.

I don't even know what short barrel ammo, or +p or +p+ ammo is!!!

Short barrel=optimized for shorter barreled pistols

+p=increased charge=higher pressure=faster bullet=more energy than the standard load.

+p+=more of the above...

In a very general sense.. JMO.. Ron
