My favorite bear story - Although (as it turned out) there was no bear.
A close friend's cousin lives in Talkeetna, AK (or at least very near it) and we were visiting. We were getting ready to go out and pick cranberries when her 5 year old daughter came up to Bob and me and said that she had something very serious to talk to us about. Her expression and the way she said it still warms my heart 15 years later
"Now you have to pay very close attention to what I'm about to tell you.
We may see a bear, or even a lot of bears, when we're out there.
I know the bears look all nice and furry and cuddly, but NEVER try to pet a bear, especially a little bear.
Mooseses too. OK?"
We agreed and thanked her very much for the benefit of her experience.
