you have a commerative s&w??

I have two, a Texas Ranger Model 19-3 and this Model 27-3, the 50th Anniversary .357. The Texas Ranger is unfired and will stay that way, but the 27 is a shooter, as it was fired when I found it and had no box. Shoots great though:

Don't know. I was in Afghanistan and found it on the 'Net. I called about it and they seller said that "..it doesn't have much blue."

Ain't THAT the truth!!

But, a 5" N frame for $150 is still a good deal, at least in my eyes.

Hello
Shown is a Tennessee Highway Patrol revolver. it is one of only 350 Made. In order to get one, you had to be a sworn in Tennessee Highway Patrolman and provide the proof of that by your Badge number and Location on an order form for it. S&W then shipped them directly to your Local Highway Patrol agency for distribution to the new Highway Patrolman owner.

I found this one at a Gun show unfired as shown. It is chambered in . 45 Colt caliber. I then added the Original sales flier and Tennessee Highway Patrolman Uniform Patch, and the official Patrolman Tie Tack. It laid in my safe for almost two years, when a friend of mine who is a retired Tennessee Highway patrol officer was at my home for a visit and I showed it to him. He said when he was working on the force, he meant to order one, but never got around to it and deeply regretted that.

Sadly, he was retired due to having a Major stroke while on the scene of Investigating a motor Vehicle accident. His career as a Tennessee Highway patrolman was over in an instance, and I could see from his emotions he really missed being a Highway Patrolman as he shared this sad story with me. His wife later called me and asked if I would be inclined to sell it. She said he did not want to fire the gun, he just wanted to have it to look at. I caved, and now it resides where it really belongs in my friends safe where he can look at it and remember the days gone past....

I have several Texas Ranger commemoratives. Here are photos of a couple of them:

I also have an Az Highway Patrol 66-1 and a Chicago Police 66-1 that I have not taken any photos of.

Texas Rangers-unfired. Thought about shooting with a softer grip; changed my mind. IIRC, didn't a similar edition come with a Bowie Knife? If so, if someone has one, would appreciate a pic to see what it looks like...

I've been guilty of filling a safe or two with commemoratives of Tennessee Highway Patrol guns
Model 19 ...the 25 pictured above is a much better picture than I have of mine and a colt or two but I wont picture them here either

That is one of the best posts I have read on this site. As a former Georgia Trooper, my hat is off to you sir for your kindness and respect to that Tennessee Trooper.

I happen to have one S&W commemorative still.

It's a Model 10-14 (I think) New Mexico State Police (Mounted Patrol?) with the logo engraved on the side. It came with a S&W display wooden box with logo for the New Mexico Mounted Patrol...

I really need to bring it out and take a picture.

Sorry, it's a post 1980 piece, but thought y'all might like to know.

Thanks AirCommando for the pics...Real sweet set....I really like the way everything matches so well....I'm starting to think that the guy who sold this to me many years ago might have had the Bowie but left it out. At that time, I didn't know about the addition....

Hello CQB27

Thank you Sir, I appreciate your Kind words and community Service to the Badge ! When I traded for that Tennessee Highway Patrol revolver, I had no Plans of ever shooting it, and wanted it to stay in the state of Tennessee where it belonged. I Later Learned that it was the Birth child of one of our Own Smith & Wesson Collector's of how it came to be. He also owns a Large Police supply in Georgia and Texas, and S&W worked closely with him to design and develop this revolver to honor the Tennessee Highway Patrolman.

I wrote an E-mail to the Commissioner of The Tennessee Highway Patrol in an attempt to get an Original Tennessee Highway Patrol Badge to place with the set, but when he got back to me he explained he could not supply me with an original Badge but he would be sending me something a little special to go with my Tennessee Highway Patrol package. I later got the Official Uniform patch & Official Tie Tack to go with the revolver.

My wife is good friends with the wife of this retired Tennessee Highway Patrol officer I mentioned and while they were at our home celebrating one of my Birthday parties, I made mention that I had this gun and asked George if he would like to see it ? When I returned with the cased set, and he opened it I could see the Passion in his eyes he had for the Tennessee Highway patrol. He went on to tell me that all he had in his life that really meant anything to him, was his Job as a Tennessee Highway patrolman. I could see Tears welling up as he explained of how his career came to a sudden end due to him having a stroke while investigating an accident scene.

Once he collected him self from telling me the details he went on to say that he remembered when these were available to Just Tennessee Highway Patrolman, but he failed to place and order and how he would really like one. I also shared with him how I Tried to get a hold of an original Tennessee Highway Patrol Badge to put with the set, but was told they could not give me one. He said that he was given his badge to keep upon his medical retirement, and as a friend he even offered it to me, but I just could not take him up on his offer.:( About Six months later he had a Birthday coming up, and his wife asked if I wanted to sell the revolver ? She explained due to his stroke issues and health Issues that he would never be able fire it, and she did not want any ammo with it either should I decide to sell it to her. As soon as she finished Talking about it, my mind was made up to sell it to her.;)

She then asked if I would mind wrapping it up in birthday paper for her , and if I could bring it out to his 65th Birthday party they held at their house ? I did so and when I entered their home, she asked me to give George his Surprise Birthday present. When he unwrapped it, he was in Deep total shock, and Happily wept at the sight of it. That special Gun Transaction was priceless and one I will never forget as long as I live, and I was Proud I could be a small part of it. I sold her that gun for just what I had in it, as I felt it deserved to be in his hands more so than mine & he deserved to have it with all his years of service to the state of Tennessee. Shown below is the Uniform patch & Tennessee Highway Patrol Brochure that were sent to me from Headquarters in Nashville, Tennessee that now are with the gun. :)

I picked up my Chicago Police Department Commemorative Mod. 66-1 yesterday at the Tigard Oregon Gun Broker. It's stamped CPD 1383 S/N 72K40** . It's a shooter and looks like it was carried as a duty weapon and did not come with presentation case tools or paper work. It feels great in my hand and I'm looking forward to shooting it.
Sorry!
I have yet to figure out how to post pictures on here with my Droid.
