This .41 magnum Blackhawk has taken more than one Maine black bear. She is topped with a 2X Leupold extended eye relief handgun scope. It was my bear gun of choice (hunting over baits) until I started using my Marlin 1895GS w/ a Leupold Vari XII 2-7X.
I had a SBHK and had a Leupold 2X installed w/Redfield mount. The scope being mounted changed the gun completely. I hated it after that. The balance shifted. I sold it and have not regretted it
I don't have my scope on my F/A anymore, but that's another thing (besides being designed for hard recoiliong guns) that I like about the SSK T"SOB mount. You can move the scope back and forth a long ways to find what suits you.
Your 66 looks great with the Weaver all stainless scope. I have 3 of the Weavers like yours, I had one on a 657 S&W and shot it for a while and it seemed to rattle a little and after looking I saw a loose piece inside the scope I called a fellow in El Paso that fixes Weavers and sent it to him he fixed it and said to not use these on any thing above a .357 as they would not hold up. In my opinion there is nothing finer looking than a rig like yours with the Weaver. Jeff
My scoped handgun is a Thompson Center Contender with a 10-inch barrel in .357 Maximum. I used to hunt deer with it but my wife, who likes venision in the freezer, prefers I use the Ruger 77 in .250 Savage.
A big 'ol Ruger Super Redhawk .44 Mag., pictured with a model 29 for comparison. It is a Weaver 2X scope that handles big gigantus 310 grain LWNFPs traveling at 1200fps! Serious power. As someone has in their signature line, " Big bang, Much smashem"! The scope handles them fine without losing it's zero.
I don't, but my wife has a Remington XP-100 rechambered for .223win with a Leupold 2x on it. It was rechambered the first time in .243win, but that was a little too wild. I don't think we were burning all of the powder in a 12" barrel.
