I seen the one on gun broker. The guys on the colt forum were a little suspicious of it as the pictures were taken so far away and complained if it was not reblued the guy should have put up many clear closeups. Some thought it should have went around $10,000s if straight. Hope someone got the deal of their life! Suspicious minds sometimes can cost you! Of course the flip side is obvious.

Some one would pay that kind of money based only on those crummy pictures??

Some member here tried to sell me a much less expensive gun with grainy, crummy pictures and felt it was to much trouble to take better ones, Hope he reads this.

Well, that pretty much rules out a birth-year Python for me unless I pick the right six numbers. Heck, it pretty much rules out an ANY-year Python.

Sure they're pretty and all, but that's almost as much as I paid for my CAR.

Holly cow what a price for that Python.

I would hold on to my example made in 1961 then.

But just what happend with my 4 screw Colt Army model 1860 I have bought it for a small amount what it is worth it today.

Nice. When I decide to sell it. I do have the large amount of money.
But I don't have the revolver anymory I realy like.

The same with the Python. I have still bread, butter and other important things on my table.

I don't sell neither. (actually I don't sell anything from my collection)

WOW!! I was in my LGS about two weeks ago. The manager showed me a 4" blued Python, looked brand new in a blue plastic box they were selling on Gun Broker for a customer (taking a 15% commission of course). The customer claimed he had bought it new and it was never fired. He showed me the current bid at that time and it was at $2100+. He allowed me to pick it up and look at it but not open or cycle it in any way. It was nice but.....

Just goes to show ya, there is a set of cheeks for every saddle!

As a guy with a meager (4) collection of fairly desirable S&W revolvers, I have to ask the question: are these Colts, ANY Colts, really worth what they seem to be bringing these days? I would love to have a four inch Python, but I wouldn't pay the stupid money these things bring, even if I had two grand to drop on a nice revolver.

It's all relative.About 5 years ago I decided I needed to get the 4 inch python I had always wanted.Spent a year looking for a mint 60s era gun for $700-800. After a year of that, I found a mint,4 inch,1968 gun for $1000. I bought it.The downside is it's too perfect to shoot.I think I see the upside,though.

At several local gun shows, a guy has been showing a 1978-made Python, just 3k numbers from my own, and he's had the same $1,900 on it, no wiggle room. This Saturday, another show, and I'll bet he's raised the price.

Very unique and attractive holster.

At the last gunshow there was a very nice 4 inch Python for sale at $900.00. I have one already in nickel but I thought very quickly of buying it because of what Pythons are selling for. This was as the doors were being opened to the public.

I passed and about an hour later went to see if it was gone. It was.

I like my older Colts but a prefer a S&W M586 or M686 to any Python for shooting.
