You suck, Amazon

I tried to get an explanation from Amazon about this issue. No one that I could reach at Amazon could (or would) offer any reason why holsters would be prohibited from being shipped to Colorado. It was mentioned by one of the Amazon people with whom I spoke that it must be a stipulation the product manufacturer must have placed on Amazon.

I can't speak to all holster products, but I did directly contact some holster vendors and they denied having placed any restrictions on Amazon to bar sales to Colorado residents. So, it would seem this policy may be something Amazon has arbitrarily imposed. I'd like to know the real story.

wow that is crazy I can order holsters in the people republic of California

Yes, they do. My daughter passed suddenly; she had a Prime account. They kept sending stuff and billing her address no matter that I sent a personal representative notice and a non-certified death certificate. I bothered to write a letter to their billing people; they eventualy sent the billing for unopened, non-ordered returned items out for collection. That got them exactly nothing, as she had only a small estate under the probate limit.

Not a fan.

I'm no fan of Amazon, but I can't blame companies for refusing to do business with states that have overly vague and overly repressive laws, and out of control district attorneys.

I live in New York and am subject to these kind of over reactions on a regular basis.

I do as little business with them as possible (can't find it locally or on another site, etc.). I have received notes from sellers stating that the big site is trying to squeeze them out of business, and given their reach and size I can completely believe it.

And biku, condolences on your daughter's passing.

Are you surprised? Really?

I don't understand why people buy holsters, reloading equipment, etc. from such hostile companies (that includes our price gouging "friends" like Bass/Cabela's).
We all know these companies are anti-gun and anti-American.
But, people still do business with them anyways.
"It's so much easier." or, "It's just so convenient."

Well, we've killed off the traditional local gun shop in the process.
And this is the result!

I haven’t had this issue with gun related stuff from Amazon, but in Missouri, if you don’t have a gun, we’ll usually give you one. Some stuff you buy from Amazon comes directly from Amazon. A lot of things I buy arrive the next day with Amazon Prime because there a big Amazon warehouse just outside St. Louis proper. Other stuff comes from a third party and Amazon just facilitates the purchase. If your order screws up, you deal with the third party to fix it. Could be Amazon, could be the third party that don’t want to ship the holster. Either way, it’s unfortunate . . .

Now that everyone has vented, have you tried a
work around like finding the manufacturer's name
and searching for them and other peddlers of their
product?

I've done that in the past with 1911 and Makarov
pieces parts. I also do it to keep Amazon from
strangling all the competition dead.

!

Same reason people still use communist UPS and Fedex to ship guns.

I have an 03 FFL and I also live in NY. Many vendors refuse to ship to me "just because". They are not discriminating against me personally, they simply don't want the hassle of being sued if something goes wrong. The meaning of "goes wrong" is violating a hazy law. Anybody ever hear about the NYAG?

Amazon is in business to make money. This holster thing is probably the result of their lawyers being overly cautios.

Who else is there to ship a handgun if you're not an FFL?

No one, hence "by any means necessary". I don't like Amazon since they started sending returned/used stuff out as new, with the new price. I had read reviews stating as such but it never happened to me, personally, until the last couple of years...

I would call the manufacturer of the holster and ask them point blank if they decided to not let Amazon ship to Colorado. If they say no, let them know what Amazon said and see if you can order it directly for the same price. If they said they did ask Amazon to not sell to Colorado, please post the name of the company as they are not worthy of my money, IMO.

While I haven't run into it with Amazon, there are plenty of vendors that will not ship perfectly legal items to CA. I ran into that issue purchasing a holster out of CO (ironically). I spoke to someone at the location, and they actually made an exception for me.

You see the same thing on Gunbroker. Many gun listings say seller does not ship/sell to NY. Even though it is no different than shipping to an FFL in any other state. People don’t want the extra worries. I can’t say I blame them.

Well, as dumb as it is, it happened for a reason.

Some of our states are out of control with tyranical government DAs and politicians who are vehemently anti 2A.

It honestly doesn't surprise me. Sorry it happened though.

As others have stated, I do try to avoid Amazon when I can. I don't care for their interests, the clown who started it, or their employee treatment.
