Been thinking on this for awhile and was wondering what version of your favorite Christmas songs were.

Mine are:

White Christmas by Bing Crosby.
Blue Christmas by Elvis Presley.
Rudolph the Red-Nosed Reindeer by Gene Autry.
Christmas Dream by Perry Como.
Oh Tannenbaum by Nat King Cole.

And more by some of the above as well as some by Roy Rogers and Burl Ives.
There are others of course, but these are mandatory. I will say, I ABSOLUTELY detest--any Christmas song sung by John Lennon. Reason being-he is TOO depressing!!!!!

not a fan of Christmas, it has gotten to be all about the gifts, how much to spend, who deserves what, who parents house do you visit. I like Advent, lighting a candle each week in church wait for the arrival of the child. Music does not cheer me up. I am Just A old guy that misses the simple joy of Xmas.

I hate Christmas music. Only thing worse it rap music and that hippity hoppity stuff.

Bah Humbug to you too, sir.

The one song I have to hear every year to put me in the Christmas spirit is Bruce Springsteen’s “Santa Claus is Coming to Town.” The sooner in the year I hear it, the sooner I’m fully in the spirit. I don’t go out of my way to play it or anything, just when it comes up on the radio or in a store’s background holiday music. Some years I’ve gone up to the week before Christmas before I hear it, some years near the beginning of December. This year I heard it the day after Thanksgiving while my daughters and I put up the tree and got all the decorations out of the attic, a yearly Black Friday tradition for us. I took it as an omen that’s it’s going to be a very Merry Christmas.

I know...weird, huh?

I really like all Christmas music. The traditional stuff makes me wax nostalgic for the Christmases of my boyhood when as soon as it was light enough out, we brought our new bicycles and toys out and played with them and all the neighborhood kids and their new stuff. The newer music including the myriad of remakes of traditional songs is more upbeat and lively and keeps me in the Christmas mood... but not until I first hear the Boss!:)

I'm a fan of what Christmas should be, not what it has become. I think it's truly sad that an important religious holiday has become a secular event devoted to materialism.

I don't decorate my home beyond setting out a Nativity scene, and I don't put up a tree, or lights, or candles in the window. I do give gifts to family and close friends, but I ask them to donate to a charity instead of giving me gifts.

I keep it simple, and I try to stay within the true spirit of this season....

Now then...since this thread is about Christmas music...

James Keelaghan is one of my favorite musicians, and recorded this gem with his friends for last Christmas.

I love the blending of cultures here: A French tune, with lyrics written by an Englishman, sung in a Caribbean beat by Canadians, using Irish bagpipes and African drums...enjoy!

Angels We Have Heard On High – Keeloweb

Generally not a fan of Christmas music, but there are some I like. Most of them are original, alternative songs, though. I do like this cover of a more "traditional" Christmas song. The ending is cute.
