Most of my guns of any type are blued. One is nickel, one is parkerized, one is stainless. I don't like stainless, but I bought a 3" Model 65 because I haven't seen a Model 13 for sale locally in a good ten years.

I voted for blued. Just love the looks of a blued revolver. My modest collection is about half blued and half SS. The stainless are easier to care for and most of my carry weapons are SS.

It may be an illusion, but blued K-frames usually seem to have much better yoke-to-frame fit. I don't know why but it makes me suspect stainless parts may be a little easier to deform. So I voted blue.

I have all the ones listed but my favorite is blue.Well worn blue.

While my favorite is color case & blue, my son's high polish stainless steel Colt 1911, gets honorable mention.

Nice Ivory!!! Lot better than steer heads.

Yep. Lot rather fondle one of them than some steer.

To my mind, nothing holds a candle to a fine blue finish. I have a couple Colt Sauer bolt actions with the high luster royal blue finish and it is intoxicating. It's really blue, dark as hell, but blue.

For a hunting/carry piece I prefer stainless, preferably a glass bead blasted version to dull it. This actually hardens the surface as the glass beads peen it, very durable.

I have a few hard chromed weapons. This is very much like glass blasted stainless and harder 'N hell. Talk about durable!

Heard nice things about melonite. Apparently it's the black counterpart to hard chrome. Way durable and a potential selection for me in the future.

Very racey INDEED! Now that's a great lookin piece! I've owned a lot of blue steel in the past, now I've gone to stainless. My favorite revolver has to be my S&W 629-1.She's got the oversize wood grips(stock I'm sure)and a 6in barrel. My close second choice is my S&W 686-6 with the 4in barrel, what a shooter!Just got a Kimber compact stainless 45,she's pretty sweet too but I'm a revolver man mostly. does she complain when you get a good grip???

I voted blue, because, well, there's something sexy about a freshly shone bluing.

Probley not, but besides wipeing the gun down, you probley got to wipe your hand after holstering that colt!
