I don't carry in a shoulder holster very often, but when I do it's
in one of these two, because they are the only two I have.
On the left is a Bianchi 9R with my Model 10 with 2" barrel.
2nd from left is an old Bianchi ad for the 9
3rd from left is a Dirty Harry by Lawman Leather with my Model
67 Combat Masterpiece with 4" barrel.
4th from left is an old ad for the Lawman Leather.

I'm also a fan of the 9R. Great for snubbies.

I have only one shoulder rig, a Galco Miami Classic. I bought it in 1992 to fit a G20 I had recently bought. I sold the G20 a few years ago, but found that my Ruger SR40c fits it perfectly.

I'd like to find a shoulder holster like Steve McQueen wore in Bullitt that my M66-1 snubbie will fit. Preferably all brown leather, though.

Suede Bianchi

I have an older suede Bianchi that I sometimes carry my 2 1/2 Model 19 in. It is inverted so the butt hangs down, easy to access when under a hooded sweatshirt, or other pullover jacket.

The holster that Bullitt wore in the movie was a Safariland Model 19.
I think his revolver was a Colt's Diamondback. A while back the Big
Gorilla owner of this here forum gave one of the Model 19s away on a
Karma Deal. It looked new. I remember really lusting for it.

My most worn and comfortable shoulder holster was a Safariland upside down model and my 4 inch 586. Carried that heavy revolver very comfortably, well concealed, and the gun was quickly accessible with either hand.

Unfortunately, the elastic band that retained the gun eventually gave out, and I never could get a replacement elastic band that worked right. After dropping the gun several times while running and jumping (thankfully on dirt and grass), I gave up on it.

Nowadays, I like chest holsters like those offered by Simply Rugged for carrying heavy hunting revolvers.

Attached a vintage pic of the Safariland rig I mentioned.

Bianchi X-15 Medium. Works well with both K/L frame 4"ers and 1911s either as Government Model or Commander.

Bought mine back in the 1980s, still in use today. Really good way imo to carry a good size gun under a coat or jacket. And GREAT for working all day in/out of vehicles.

That’s easy, Phil. My favorite is this carved & laced Heiser made for a single shot Target Pistol. It fits readily under a full length Buffalo hide coat. It doesn’t get a lot of use here in South Florida but if it ever drops below freezing and I’m only going to run into one miscreant I’m ready.
Oh, the holster is lettered, I was lucky enough to buy it from Roy Jinks and he sent me a letter saying so.

Ok, the only shoulder holster I’ve ever worn was this one and I haven’t worn it in probably 40 years.

Regards,

My favorite shoulder rigs are my vintage Jackass rig for K/L frames. Bianchi Scorpio for K frames. And for semi auto a Franken rig of Galco holster, harness and horizontal double magazine carrier.

Galco Miami Classic. Gun and badge on one side, mags and cuffs on the other. No tie downs. Put everything on, take everything off.

I gave the Sig to my left-handed son when I retired, but he had no use for the holster. To my eternal delight, I found it fits my 645.

No badge on one side anymore, no cuffs on the other. I don't wear it much now, but when I do its like visiting an old friend.

I've had an original Bianchi 9R since about 1970 and used it with J-frames over the years when it suited the circumstance.
Had a Bianchi X-15 (no safety strap) in the late 1960s but it kept dumping the gun out the front whenever I'd jump over a wall or something, so I got rid of it.

Another Galco Miami Classic fan here! I have one for a 1911 that predates Galco to their old name Jack Axx Leather that I have had since the early -mid 80's. I have about a half dozen Galco shoulder holsters

The holster that Bullitt wore in the movie was a Safariland Model 19.
I think his revolver was a Colt's Diamondback.

It was a Diamondback. I read somewhere that the two guys working with him were carrying Colt Detective Specials. The bad guy he had the shootout at the airport with used a 1911A1; the shotgun used by the hit men was a 12 gauge Winchester Model 1897.

In the hospital scene where one of his partners was shot, there are two motorcycle officers in a scene. You can see one's revolver, with white stocks (either ivory or fake ivory). Speculation is that they were actual San Francisco mounted PD working as extras in their actual uniforms and gear and the revolver was a Model 58, since the department was using them at the time the film was made.

Early Bianchi 9R for small frame snubs Colt & S&W also Bucheimer upside down harness with two holsters for S&W J frame and Colt Det. My wish list are the compact Safariland cartridge slides that could be attached to shoulder holster harness, believe Steve McQueen had the slide on his Model 19 shoulder holster, was available in tan and black.

I have an early Jackass rig I bought back in the late 70s, early 80s. Still have it, and still use it. Bought all the holsters with it left and right so I can carry one or two guns, pistols or revolvers. or mix them up any way I want.......................................M*
