How many of you have made any decisions concerning your funeral and burial ? What about cremation ? We owned burial plots for over 25 years and a couple of years ago we both decided that we would rather be cremated . We sold the plots for a nice profit . My wife wants her ashes to be interred at her mothers gravesite and I wish to have mine scattered in a particular place at a National Forest where we have camped since I was a child . Yeah , before anybody says it , I know it's not legal . Too bad . It's going to happen .

Did my pre-planning earlier this year. Two people were designated to act on my behalf with the funeral home and I gave both of them copies of the contract with the funeral home, pre-paid insurance policy paperwork, my wishes for a simple memorial service and preferred disposal of my ashes. It was a huge relief to get these plans made and paid for, so no one else would have to guess what I wanted done or have to figure out how to pay for it.
It really did give me peace of mind.

We have a will but have talked to a lawyer and will be getting a living trust done. Once I'm dead just go ahead and burn me and after that I really don't care. My wife feels the same way also.

I was Born "Broke out of the Box"
I have absolutely ZERO Allegiance to this Body
There is something called "Direct Cremation"
"The body is cremated shortly after passing,
without embalming, viewing or visitation."

If my wife or daughter want service, they can do it afterward

My wife and I made our arrangements twenty two years ago. We had to
use hers two years ago (2/11/20).
If you saw Postcards From The Edge, with Meryl Streep, at the end of
the movie she sings I'm Checking Out Of This Heartbreak Hotel. I am
requesting that it be played at my service.

One of my favorite places to visit is the Shenandoah National Park in Virginia, where I've spent many hours over the years navigating Skyline Drive, standing at the scenic overlooks, taking photos, and just admiring the beauty of God's nature.

My ashes will be scattered there.

Outside Nelsonville, Ohio is Zaleski State Forest. One of the hiking trails has a beautiful overlook. I'm in the "Bake & Shake" camp! My wife grew up a Campfire Girl (as were both our moms) and was thinking of being among the tree houses at Camp Wyandot, but that looks to go under in the not-too-distant future. So she has decider to join me, in the woods overlooking one of the most beautiful places We have been together.

In the 1920's a beautiful mausoleum (in the Art Deco style) was built on a hill at the south end of Sandusky Street in Delaware Ohio. The people placed there were promised that this would be their eternal resting place and put money in a trust to pay for the building's upkeep. But in the early 21st century. The Mayor and Town Council decided that the "Property" was just too valuable, and ordered the remains buried in the grave yard at lowest cost and a single grave marker (That's called a mass grave!). The trust and the sale of the land proceeds went into the city coffers! This was done to increase the property tax income to the city.

I call it a form of grave robbing!

Want to be buried in the same Veteran's Cemetery as my late Father and my Brother. I won't be there but my body will be in good company.

All taken care of. I'm highly organized and have index cards and another file with all my guns, knives, Duck Decoy Collection and such categorized and my wife and children know who to trust to dispose of them.
Those guys who have smuggled stuff into the house for years without letting the wife know of the values create a huge stress for their family at a bad time.
But on the flip side, alot of bargains are found at estate sales too.
