Your Range Bag

I'd say, post your range bag, but that likely doesnt do justice, so what's everyone pack with them? What are your range bag contents?

I have an M&P range bag that carries two pistols...as much ammo as I want to shoot and all my mags (full) with my speed loaders...works well for me so far...I take my FS40 and my BG380 most of the time...sometimes I put my 38 special in instead of my 380

2 pistols, cleaning kit, break free, lube, ammo, targets, tape, muffs, extra mags, ziplock bags for spent brass and thats all I can think of at the moment.

A pad of notebook paper and orange duct tape - cheap man's targets.

Also, a smaller note pad and a pen to draw, record, and mark shots on the target. Saves several trips downrange to mark your hits and groups.

And, separately from the range bag, I always leave a couple pair of earplugs in the truck, because sometimes the idiot that packs my range bag forgets to throw in the earmuffs.

My range bag looks like Michael Moore in a speedo. It is stuffed to the gills with all manor of (necessary) stuff. Most times I don't even try to zip it up.

A duffel bag for pistols in cases, any ammo I intend to use, two pairs of ear muffs, and maybe targets. When rifle shooting, I just take an ammo can and put the ammo and earmuffs in that.

I use a couple Midway bags.

Just handguns, mags and any gun or optic specific tools. Foam ear plugs and muffs. Have separate bag for toting ammo.

My range bag has 2 sets of ears and spare batteries, two sets of eyes. A staple gun/staples for targets, handy wipes, nylon mesh bags for spent brass, and then weapons and ammo based on what I feel like shooting that day.

Took quite a few treks down the 200 yd. range with a pen to mark all the hits.... Finally dawned on me.

Of course, optics capable of seeing the target clearly are a must.

Can a M&P range bag hold a FS 9mm case??

small journal to keep track of ammo used and number of rounds shot
Small air rifle targets to staple to paper targets
mags/ammo of course

I have a generic type duffle bag (or Gym bag if you will) that is very strong and has a solid reinforced bottom, lots of pockets, strong padded shoulder strap and carrying straps too. It's about 1 foot wide, 2 feet long and a foot in height.

Contents are:
* Guns and ammo I will be shooting that day.
* Ear and Eye protection.
* Targets, a field cleaning and tool kit, oil rag, stapler, extra staples, pens, pencils, matches, a baseball hat, extra sun glasses, toilet paper (you never know) band aids, masking tape, a pair of deer skin gloves, a disposable poncho, hand soap (D-lead and Boraxo), a few cigars, and a bottle or two of water. If I intend to be at the Range for many hours I'll usually pack either a lunch or a few healthy snack bars.

And if my wife comes with me ........ an extra set of ear plugs (and they ain't for her either)..........LOL!!

I found the perfect range bag at Home Depot. Its an orange plastic bucket (with lid) that holds all my range treasures and doubles as a brass collection point. If you do it just right, you can even sit on it. Comes with a very functional handle, too.

My range "bag" is a Snap On tool box, with eye protection, ear muffs and plugs, targets, tacks, punches, a small tack hammer, screwdrivers, a leatherman type tool with pliers and all kinds of stuff, and whatever ammo I intend to shoot that day. Revolvers and pistols go in briefcases that have been gutted and lined with foam.

I keep a bottle of push-pins and a roll of masking tape, small tool set, "sand bags", 2 or 3 plastic shopping bags, Band-aide box first aid kit, multiple foam ear protectors, CR 2032 AA & AAA batteries, Laser range finder, Crony, Spotting scope & stand, 3 or 4 types of targets Pasters in 2 colors. Rim fire, pistol and rifle ammo in separate bags. In truck:staple gun, 2 target frames, cleaning kit w/ rods, cooler, snacks, shooting bench for varmints. Shooting sessions can last up to 4 days-Sleeping bag and some stuff for that. Ivan

I'm new to shooting, and have only visited indoor ranges.

My 686, my daddy's old Walther P-38 on occasion, enough ammo for an hour's shooting, small notebook, Sharpie to mark plain target backs, a couple rags. Also, I take a box our personal checks come in to quickly eject revolver brass.

If I take a loaned Ruger Redhawk, it goes in a foam case... the danged thing is over a foot long.

This might make you smile- here's what "works" for a newbie, until I can find something more appropriate. It has a hard bottom, and re-inforced handles.

I use an old camera case, it is large enough for a 9mm, a 45acp, and a 22lr. plus ammo for all three, hearing, and eye protectors, staple gun and staples, targets, a towel, a screwdriver and an uploader, plus several baggies for brass. there may even be a pb&j sandwich in there somewhere.

I bought a cool camo bag from Cabela's on sale $14.95
reinforced handles and shoulder strap. 10"x16" bag maybe bigger.
one end pocket has all my bore snakes in zip lock bags. Plus the small bottles of cleaner and lube in a zip loc bag.
the other end pocket has my Johnson & johnson travel first aid kit. Find them at Wal-Mart cheap. Nice plastic case. Fit in most glove boxes.
in a side pouch I have my leather man mutt gun tool leather man. Plus any other small tools might need for repairs.

there are two rugs that come with the bag or you can take them out and use your own...nice side pockets and internal pockets...I bought it on Amazon...I hook my hearing protection to the outside

I carry 2 sets of ear muffs 150 to 200 rounds some targets markers. 2 pistols an a coffee can for my brass. I take 2 pistols because wife goes with me.

Other than for the club's double-action revolver league, I don't use a range bag.

I use a five gun bullseye shooter's (since that's most of my shooting, when I had money to shoot) box with a spotting scope mounted on the lid. If I need to carry a LOT of ammunition, I've got a small duffel bag which I got from a computer course.

For the revolver league, I use a small laptop bag that holds my Model 14 or Model 25-2, a box or two of ammunition, moon clips, speed loaders, Chapman toolkit and hearing and eye protection.

I use an old camera bag, kinda like Joe. Some cleaning supplies, a bottle of BreakFree, a delrin rod, rags, hearing protectors, a small screwdriver, and a Swiss Army knife....

So much stuff I can't remember it all. I do carry my ammo in the range bags. Both rifles and pistols go in their separate cases. I carry a 5 section cleaning rod with patch tips for 22, 30, 38, 40 and 45. I also carry oil, and some grease for M1 and M1A rifles. I carry clips: Springfield, M1, Mauser (both rifle and pistol), SMLE; two of each. My most essential tool is a copper mallet, about 1/2 pound.
