I shot at a LEO match outside of Boston yesterday and S&W was one of the vendors with a display. They had a couple of M&P15's, several M&P pistols, a few J-frames, the new BodyGuard duo, and a compact Pro Series 1911 on display. Great folks, generous, too, they donated a M&P rifle for the raffle - winner's choice, just pick the one you want from the catalog!!! Sadly, I did not win it.

Anyway, I was talking to the rep, telling him my S&W likes and dislikes and basically how I thought they should be doing things.;) While looking over the BodyGuard .38 and complaining about the polymer construction I asked him when they were going to build a lightweight 9mm J-frame (as if) and he told me.....(drum roll please).....that they were coming out with a NEW 9MM BODYGUARD REVOLVER!!!!!!:eek: First thing I wanted to know was when and he said to look for it around September!!! I was shocked and asked him again to be sure I heard him right, and yes, a 9mm BodyGuard revolver due out around September 2011.:D

So, for everybody (like me) that's been asking for a new 9mm J-frame we're finally going to get our wish. Don't know if it will be aluminum framed like the .38 or scandium or what, but he said it will be based on the polymer BodyGuard platform. I'll be buying the first one I can get my hands on, even though I have a custom scandium 9mm J-frame already.

Remember, you heard it hear first. I can't wait!

Looks like market research (seeing used 940 prices) may have influenced this. Perhaps also a LE backup gun contract? Interested to see one in person.

The would be awesome, especially if they'll offer it in a 3" barrel.

Now if they would only make a K-frame 9mm again, all would be forgiven.

Firstly, I remember seein' pics of your customized 360; it's a sweet gun!

Secondly, I would buy a 9mm J frame in a second. Even if it was polymer:-(

as soon as dealers are taking orders I will be on list!! built on any frame!!!!!!

This is interesting, I have a 940 and with standard pressure 9mm after about 150 to 200 rds my hand is done about the same as light 38s in my 360PD. So I think 9mm in a polymer would be nasty. I agree with M2Mike, give me a K frame 3" and they would have my money. It would also be nice if could run 9/21 in it also. Just a wish.

Guy's the new Bodyguard is NOT a J frame. The only thing in common is size and the name S&W.

They still market it as being a J frame. I thought about that also though.

I'd like to see a 9mm K frame in 2 inch barrel also with a round butt with no IL and I would be on the waiting list tomorrow.

Picky, picky. It's my thread so for lack of a better term at the moment it's a J-frame. Regardless, S&W is finally answering the call for a lightweight, "small" frame 9mm snubby. How about just being psyched about that?

I'd take one of those in heart beat.
Why is it that the manufacturers never pole the enthusiasts on what they'd like to see made?

No offense intended but it seems like an alternative universe when S&W fans get excited about a polymer framed revolver.

That's just not right! (LOL)
