Here's something a wee bit different for those of you used to American revolvers and US long arms:

Yugoslavian M72 RPK,the lite machinegun version of the AK-47,if anything the AK has a "get the hell out of my way" vibe the RPK is a "I'm gonna destroy you!" type gun

Rather good looking rifle if I do say so :D

does the bag have a drum in it? these are a hoot on full tilt.

Yes, probably my favorite AK... they do cry out for a drum, or at least a 40 rounder. Not FA, but they bump fire nicely.

Prices on drums are a fraction of what they used to be.

I've looked for years for an original type 'club foot' stock for my Chi-Com RPK and even tried to get one from an American manufacturer, but no one has been interested enough to oblige me. I know they aren't 'rare', but certainly scarce enough that it's hasn't been worth anyone's while to make one.

I converted it to US legal with enough requisite domestically produced parts to be able to get rid of the abominable thumbhole stock it came with by using TAPCO replacement parts.

The RPKs are larger and heavier and kind of defeat the idea of the small 'assault carbine' the AK's were designed to be since they more filled the role of a SAW, but the thing shoots great and is pure AK design-wise. Another 'toy' with little practical use but fun to have nonetheless.

Actually......

I find that the RPK is the most "rifle like" of the AK's and as such could make a hell of an all around weapon, you can reach out better since you have an SKS length barrel plus it's a heavy so it won't whip around as much.

The Yugo at least balances well and isn't obnoxiously heavy, add to the fact that I have some five round Chinese mags and I will take it hunting sometimes :D the 7.62X39 has about the same power as the old 30-30 so it's perfectly good for deer and hogs.

I also like the 30's for "general use" they don't get in the way so much.

Also for you Fred-you need six parts to be in compliance for a stamped gun, five for a milled,so as long as you follow that you're golden.

The club foot stocks are out there, just have to know where to look.

Yep, I've taken a few with a single shot in 30 Ruskie.

Replaced about 9, I believe if memory serves.

If you have a source for a club foot stock I'd love a referral - I've looked high and low and supposedly been on a list from a guy from CA that manufactures such stuff for AK's for over two years, with no repsonse.

You only need six,and the limit for H.R.1022 is ten-you don't really need an American stock.

I can keep an eye out,I dunno if I'll find one but I'm all over military gun forums so I can be an extra set of eyes, but you'll probably find a surplus easier then an domestic made replacement.

Here's one

hate ya! and thats all I got to say about that. I priced them out and soon realized that I couldn't aford one. But I do remember when cheaper than dirt had the parts kits for next to nothing. trade you a raven arm 22 for it even throw in a jennings 22 for the mags. Don't you wish you could put that triangle folding stock on it. Doeboy

Edit: you did! you did! put that evil folding stock on there! ooooooooooohhhhhhh! I like it alot !

Ironwood Design has them listed as "coming soon".

Ironwood is in Cali. and I have gotten some stock sets from him but it was like pulling teeth. 3-4 months late and always an excuse. You might try Andre Varrin at AR-TEX Armory Texas. He use to be the head armorer for Armory USA (Global Trades) and built both of my Krinks and about 6 other AKs for me. At least he runs with the right people. His web sight is www.customak-47.com or phone 281-579-0422. He is usually only in the shop in the mornings. Tell him Steve Turner gave you his number. He should be able to find your club foot for you.
