I decided to buy a good knife set for the kitchen and was looking at sets by Cutco and Henckels. Cutco sets are nice and expensive. I looked at this set from Zwilling - J.A. Henckels and decided to buy it. List was over $800.00, but I got it through Amazon for $362.00 plus shipping. I hope I'm happy with it.

They certainly look good but you won't know until you use them. I finally was able to talk my daughter into a new set of knives after I had to deal with her old ones when we visited her. I'm not sure what she bought but I'll see them on our next visit. I have a set that I received as a wedding gift 47 years ago. I just had them all professionally sharpened and they still work well for me.

I have used Zwilling- Henckels knives a long time. They have always been good to me. I like that they are forged.

I have two I bought in München in 1987. Still using them.

My X got a couple of 'em, too, dangit.

You have one of the best professional knife sets made without doubt. With proper care, they will give you a lifetime of service and then passed down to your favorite grandchild. Once you start to use them, you will see that they are worth every cent you paid.

My son gave me a set of their steak knives, and they're superb. I have 4 or 5 Henckel kitchen knives of various sizes, some 30 years old, and they are just as good.

IMHO, one of the real bargains in quality knives. Learn to really sharpen them. The optimum edge for a knife dedicated to slicing tomatoes is different from a knife dedicated to cutting meat. A small power tool I ran across to finish sharpening my custom knives is the "Works Sharp Knife Sharpener" No. WSKTS. It is very self explanatory but has great directions with it. Runs about 70$ at places like Amazon. Keep your knives sharp and there is no need for extensive blade grinding or shaping. The other item needed is a common Barber's Razor Strop. ..................
