When Lawman Leather first came out with it in about 1972, they sold new for about $72.00 & they came in either the original rust color or in the black. How do I know that, Because when I bought my M29 with the 83/8 " BBL: I sent away for one in the Rust tan color & it is as new today as the day that I bought it, Iv'e kept it new by using & treating it with Kiwi neutural shoe wax, Best money that I have ever spent on any holster, worth every dollar of it. & still using it today when out Deer Hunting.

6.5 " barrel for Harry. I believe one of the first guns he was photographed with was actually a Model 57.

Dirty Harry Holster
Clint lives in my county (Monterey) and comes in to my ex-employer office (Monterey Co. Sheriff's Office) to get his ccw. Maybe I should ask him for his shoulder holster. Quick recent story on him. Friend of mine who is one of the range masters for MCSO, took Clint out to our range so he could qualify for his ccw. After taking some shots, Clint turned around to the range master and asked him how many shots did he fire. Range master thinking Clint was playing with him on his famous quote, "Did I fire five shots or six....but in all this excitement, I can't remember". Range master started laughing at him thinking Clint was joking with him. Clint, not smiling, said to him, no, really, I'm not kidding. How many shots did I fire because I can't remember. Ranger master quit smiling and told him six. Hmmm, and Clint carries a ccw! I don't think we'll be seeing anymore Dirty Harry movies anytime soon.

There should be a sticky for this urban myth. All guns were 6 1/2" M29's. No 8 3/8" barrels, no M57's or M25's.
