Bought a Colt, don't kick me out
My dad will be retiring soon with 30 years from Atlanta PD and I've been wanting to find him an older weapon issued by the department. He still has his old S&W Model 10, but before my dad's time they carried Colts. I found him this one today!
It's a 1933 Police Positive. If this thing could talk...
I haven't had time to get any nice pics, but these are the ones from the store's site.

Ain't nothing wrong with owning a Colt like that. I wish I had one, and I'm sure everyone here would like one, too.
You were lucky to find it, and your father is lucky to have a thoughtful son like you.

Owning a Colt will not forfiet your S&W membership. So far a Glock is ok.
However you might not be invited to some Bar-B-Qs or be allowed to date members daughters.
A few stun slaps might be coming your way.

That's a nice gun, and a great gesture on your part, your Dad will be real happy with it! I think Colts are great guns, and most guys on this board own and/or appreciate them. Smith & Wessons and Colts are kind of like peas and carrots, they go well together...

I don't own a Colt, but I've seen quite a few I would like to own! Some day I'll have one. I love old police marked guns, and that Colt is a great gift that I'm sure your Dad will love! (In case he doesn't, PM me and I'll give you my shipping info! )

This makes the second one we have from Atlanta PD and I'm afraid it will lead to the creation of a sub-collection.

That is a Police Positive Special, not a shorter-framed Police Positive. It probably takes .38 Special ammo, not the .38 S&W regular/.38 Colt New Police round.
This is all to the good, except perhaps for some collectors.
I think it was also made in .32/20, but haven't time to dig out books to check.

Nothing wrong with buying a Colt. The last couple I've picked up myself have had pony's on the side. I suspect that had Colt not existed, Smith & Wesson would have had to invent them. The same is true the other way. They needed that rivalry.
I'm sure your Dad appreciates your gift. Very nice of you.

They're great guns. I carried a DS that saw me thorough a gun battle (LEO 1968 - 1997), still own my '68 Cobra and am in the process of aquiring another Cobra from a Forum member.
My daily carry is a 442 no dash but the Colts are special.
