New to the forum. Just picked up my new M&P15 two days ago and I would like to replace the grip. I removed the grip on the rifle and found their is a spring for the safety, is there a grip you can buy that has this hold already in it. Pictures I have seen so far do not show a hold. Hopefully reasonably priced.
Great forum.
Thanks

Welcome to the forum.i run the magpul moe+ grip on all my ar platforms.its rubberized and provides a good grip in all conditions.it also has a compartment in the grip that you can use to store batteries, bullets, cleaning supplies or whatever.i believe the grips come with a spot for the spring,if not i probably just drilled a little hole in it. they cost around $30 and come in different colors.

Congrats on your new M&P 15! Which model did you buy?

There are a bunch of different AR-15 aftermarket grips available. My best advice is to head out to a store and check out a few. Find the one that best fits your hand. Below is a link to a few examples:

AR-15/M4 Pistol Grips | Grips at Brownells

A good AR-15 grip will have a hole to accommodate the safety selector spring. Word of caution; not only is there a spring, there is a little detent (stubby pin) in there too. The spring acts upon the detent. The detent acts upon the safety lever. Do not lose that little detent. It's no fun paying for and waiting for delivery of that little part. I know.

As for me, I prefer the Magpul MIAD grip. It has replaceable front and back straps which allowed me to get a perfect fit. It has a grip compartment for which you can buy different inserts. I have the emergency 3-round insert in mine.

Good advice

I've run the Hogue rubber grip and the Magpul MOE. I prefer the simplicity of the MOE and size.

Another +1 for the Magpul MOE+ grip. I've used it and the Blackhawk ergonomic grip and both have the proper holes for the springs, I'd go off the assumption that they all do (even if you can't see it in the pictures).

Watch out for the little pins and springs that fall out when you remove the grip. Mine disappeared into the carpet never to be seen again. Had to order new from S&W. Guess what? I ordered extra ones!

There are some very good videos on YouTube on assembly/disassembly of the AR15. It is a good idea to watch a couple of these before you start punching pins out of your new favorite toy.

Don't ask me how I know this.

I agree that youtube has a virtual gold mine of ar how to videos.... I'm going to change out my grip shortly and to the best of my knowledge (with the exception of flat head screw vs allen head vs bolt) they all swap the same.... As for which one to get. There's hundreds on the market. If you have access to gun shops/shows with a variety see what feels good in your hand. I live in NJ where guns are evil and there's not a lot of shops and no shows at all. So to the web I went. I like the feel of rubberized, finger grooved grips on my pistols so I'm now waiting for delivery on a UTG combat sniper AR grip.....Thats the great thing about AR's though...... There like old small block Chevy engines, literally millions of aftermarket parts and bolt ons

I like the Magpul MOE also. You will make your own decision on which to buy. They are really not expensive so if you get one you don't like sell it after you buy what feels good to you.

Do a search on Amazon for "ar15 grip" they will show lots of them. A good idea is to keep some of the frequently lost parts for spares so when you do lose something you don't have to wait to order and receive them. I keep most of the springs and other small parts as spares. There is a nice spring and detent kit "AR-15 Lost Parts Kit" search, also from Amazon and if you get a grip with storage in it you can juts put it in there so you know where it is and have it handy. I keep them there along with a broken shell extractor. I haven't had to use any of them yet but there are there if I do need them. I also have a folding forward grip with storage for other parts.

Like others stated youtube has plenty of videos for the AR. Just watch several as not everyone that put them on there are rocket scientist.

Anyway, a warm welcome from "wild and wonderful " West Virginia at least that's what they tell us.

I've used Hogue and Magpul on everything AR. In my opinion, the Magpul MOE + is the best I've ever had.

Good Luck and good shooting. :D

And WELCOME to the forum, the best one around.
