With the shortage of ammo, when I see some in a caliber I shoot, and at anything like a reasonable price, I buy it. Recently, I saw and bought some 9mm ammo, some of which I've never seen or heard of before (not that I know everything about ammo) figuring I could use it at the range, and save my "better" ammo for HD, SD, etc. I was wondering if anyone here has any experience with Independence, Federal, and Sellier & Bellot ammo? I also bought some PMC Bronze, which I haven't used before but I read is good ammo.

Thanks.

I've shot all four brands of ammo in 9mm and haven't had a single problem.

Thanks! I just bought a new SD9VE, and I was thinking of using these boxes of ammo to break it in, along with a few rounds of Hornady. (I don't have a lot of Hornady left, and I can't find any to replace it.)

I really like PMC ammo, looks good, shoots VERY good!!!! I like to buy more PMC in the future!

Out of those choice's, Federal is going to be the best of them and the cleanest.

Federal is the only one of those mentioned that I have shot. Never any problems with them. I have heard good things about the other one's also just no personal experience.

They are all good. The S&B is the stinkiest. Not as in "bad ammo", just strong smell. I find the Independence to be the best value ammo I've ever used. Wish I could find more at the $9 per box I was getting it for only a few months ago. :(

I've never found any $9 ammo, even before the panic! It always amazes me how different prices are in different parts of the country. I always read about what others are paying in other places, for guns especially, and the prices are always higher here.

Thanks for all the replies...I'm going to go shooting!

For punching holes in paper I suppose you could use the cheapest brand. For self defense I would go with Federal, Winchester, Remington or CCI.

All work great... since its new, run 300+ rounds through for sufficient break in before you trust your life to it. Then you can start to shoot with your defense ammo. Make sure to train often with your defense weapon. I go to the range at least once every 2 weeks.

Federal is a TOP American manufacturer and among the best. Independence is a subsidiary of Federal and is manufactured in Brazil. S&B is made in Serbia and it's good ammo. PMC is made in south Korea and is very good ammo made on fairly new equipment sit strict quality controls.
