Howdy.

I try to post my ammo test results in the forums where folks may actually be interested in the test pistol. This is one of the first tests I've done with the Shield 40.

Gel test usually always look good and that bone test worked out ok for you.

That Denim test is always a question on what will happen. Most times the bullet (All companies) will work out and expand like it should but every now and then one will "Plug" and not perform right and like in this test, over penetrate to 24 inches or even angle out of the gel section and be lost.
When a bullet starts to turn off its path and tumble, all bets are off on what is going to happen next.
Just goes to show that even the "Best" bullets will some times give results that we do not expect.

Thanks for keeping us on our toes................

The "problem" IMO is that most people don't shoot a .40 S&W handgun well and they use the 180 gr. bullet which is in all likelihood going to be a poor performer out of a short barrel such as in the Shield. The 180's recoil far less. Personally, I think the 155 gr. is the best commercial weight for this ctg. with the 165 gr. running a close second. If I carried a Shield in .40 S&W I would use the Corbon 140 gr. DPX (solid copper HP). As a an aside, I have some Double Tap .40 S&W that use a 125 gr. Barnes SCHP and they are just wicked, as well their 135 gr. Nosler JHP.

Nice test.
