One of the ammo types I have is the 358 Silvertips. So wondering if there any real Silver in the 358s - you know in case of werewolves?

'Silvertip' was Winchester-Western's marketing term for factory hunting rifle ammo that was loaded with bullets designed for deeper penetration than their 'Power Point" bullets. The term is also used to denote a line of their handgun ammo whose bullets are silver in color.

In the past, W-W often coated the lead bullets in their HG ammunition with a copper wash, I believe it is called, to make their ammo more attractive to the eye. Remington did not.

That "copper wash" on W-W bullets was known as "Lubaloy". It was a copper alloy used to ease the bullet's passage thru the bore. That alloy was also used in the jackets of W-W's jacketed bullets, both handgun and rifle. It was not merely cosmetic.

Hope this helps
Larry

Winchester's Silvertip rifle rounds use an aluminum tip to help improve penetration and to protect the tip from damage and deformation that occurs with standard exposed lead tip rounds.

Um. I'd pay extra for silver plating. Or gold plating for that matter. I always thought silver tip ammo was tin. Guess its time to saw one in half to see for myself. Not that I can tell what the substance really is.
