Academy and .22--got this from them this morning.

The 2 local Walmart's I shop at for ammo say they put any new ammo on the shelves first thing in the morning (7 a.m.).
The hoarding would stop if all stores put ammo out at different times of the day, so hoarders don't know when they will be there.
This would give everyone a fair chance for purchase.
I guess the stores really don't care who buys it, so long as they sell it.

You sir, hit the nail on the head. WM here have upped their stoking hour to 8Am. The guy at Academy said they MIGHT start staggering the times of when they stock the bulk rounds--which to me--would be a great idea and others would finally be able to get some of the goodies. Had they done that all along? there never would have been a shortage or the amount of complaints they get from non-hoarding customers.

If we look back to prohibition, I hope everyone could agree that experiments fail when trying to legislate morality.

.22 ammo and pre war Smiths are both available...question is does the buyer want to pay the going price?

Or is it easier to point fingers and shrink back into behavior of having negative feelings towards those who have vs. the have nots.

Do you want to be proactive or be a victim?

Yesterday I read a note about Mid South Shooters supply having a sale on primers with no haz matt fee if you purchased 5K. Does that mean that everyone who took advantage of the sale is a hoarder? When the next "event" happens and tips the delicate supply chain; will the folks who planned ahead become evil hoarders by proxy?

I can respect others who have more. Why all of this emotion over .22 ammo? If you want it that bad, its certainly available. If you dont like the going price, then change calibers....for the love of my Jack Russell please quit the sniffling and whining and hating on someone who was more motivated than yourself and found a way. This is still America!

When I read this type of thread I shudder to think that Sarah Brady's next step will be to establish a 1-800-Report a Hoarder hotline.

Motivated??? maybe just MAYBE--some people cant afford those higher prices? Did you ever think of that possibility?

Thread should be locked before too many get into trouble. Im outta here.

Foolish not to stagger shelving times. The object is to have the most people coming into the store, where they might pick up something else, not just catering to a small handful, only there for one purpose.

No. The object is to sell the product. The faster the better. Hoping someone will buy something extra is the fast lane to bankruptcy.

The faster the product is sold the greater chance that that store will get more product to sell on the next delivery.

We are talking about 22 LR ammo here. The most sought after ammo in America according to those in hot pursuit of 22 ammo. I don’t think it matters what time it goes on sale. The word “goes” being the key word here. It “goes” fast no matter what the price or the amount or the time.

Yes it goes fast but in the last two weeks I've been able to walk into my local Academy and purchase it. In fact some CCI Green Tag came in on Friday and I've been going by every day since to pick up my 2 box limit. The still had some this morning after I picked up my two boxes. Bulk ammo has been plentiful with 5-7 cases coming in every delivery day and 22lr still on the shelf on the next delivery day. So what has changed, I don't know but I'm quite happy with what has been going on. I guess either a new contract was signed with their suppliers, or they recognize the amount of sales they are making or just maybe things are getting better. Maybe all three. I just hope it continues like its has been lately.

I initially (start of the "shortage") complained because I lacked the foresight to stock sufficient quantities of .22 LR ammo. My usual internet suppliers never seemed to have any, and I'd walk by the empty case at Walmart and quietly curse.

I then started searching seriously online, and I also learned of some notification systems to alert me when it was in stock somewhere, and I began scoring at decent prices. Sometimes I was too late, sometimes I got in. I now have a nice supply and I didn't have to drive a mile to find it. It certainly CAN be done.

Exactly my experience as well.
