I didn't know where to post this so if it is in the wrong spot, I'm sorry. What is the best way to sell ammo locally? I just went from 38 to 9mm and I have 14 boxes of ammo. It doesn't look like I can put it on craigslist but I don't want to deal with shipping it. Any suggestions? My only other thought is Ebay with local pickup only.

Armslist.com works around here.

Ammunition is VERBOTEN on Ebay!!

Ok thanks! Guess I would have found that out when I tried to list it. Do you think listing local pickup only would be an issue on armslist?

Why not see if your friendly lgs will swap it out for you?

Armslist is a local internet board, that can be viewed nationwide.

I've listed firearms and ammo which sold local. I've also sent to FFL in other states.

My LGS has been known to take ammo on consignment for a % fee.

Thanks for all the ideas. I posted it on armslist so we'll see how that goes. I doubt that my range would allow it but a coworker might be able to post it at his.

No one else mentioned it, so I'll suggest that you list it in the classifieds here on the forum.

I think that is an excellent idea!
Perhaps you could list it on the services & for sale listings at your local barber shop.

Here in my area, we can list things, "For Sale Less than $100."
in our local newspaper classified section for FREE. However we must state, FOID required. (Firearms Owners Identification) card. Thereby you can list 2,3,or however many
boxes you wish to include for the amount less than $100.
Price must be included in the ad.

Are you absolutely certain that you will never buy another .38/.357? (If so, how can you be certain?) Why not just keep it against the day you will probably have use of it in the future? How much space does it take up? (Not a rhetorical, I already know!) Even if you hold it 10 years chances are to replace it at that time will cost at least 50% more than now, and you will never sell it for current retail! Figure it will cost at least twice what you will sell it for now! Simply keeping what you already have is the best savings account against future inflation!

To quote george_lehr "No one else mentioned it," Sort of hard to believe.

Northeastshooters.com looks like a large forum with a classified section. It might not be a bad place to list for local pickup only.

Free ads on BackPage work well here in the Tucson area.

I see that you have local coverage: New Hampshire - guns for sale: firearms, handguns, rifles - backpage.com

Signup is free, as are ads with a single insertion which has worked well for me. Contact by buyers is via email by default and is anonymous unless you post contact information in the ad itself, which many people do around here.

I recently cleaned up my .380 ACP inventory when we sold the last of our pocket pistols in that caliber. I had tried posting at the Pima Pistol Club range without success and also tried ArizonaShooting.com, our local gun board which has worked well in the past. But, neither generated interest in this caliber. It sold within hours on BackPage.

Hey, it's anonymous and free. So, there is no reason not to advertise there. ;)

Thanks for the suggestions, I posted it that first night on armslist and it was gone the next day. Alk8944-I doubt that I would ever get another revolver. I hated shooting it so would likely not use all that ammo for many more years. I don't think I had fired it in 2 or 3 years and let my range membership lapse because I never went. I got more for it than I
paid, plus with 9mm on sale at my lgs, I was able to get 25 boxes.
