I will try to make this post objective and leave out my emotions, this is not to bash a company but to make others aware of my struggles and if you are willing to endure proceed.

I ordered 2K rounds of 9mm from Mountain City Supply back in Sept, I have a friend that ordered 1K rounds and had good luck with the ammo a month earlier. I was told 2 weeks for delivery. One month later after no delivery I called, they apologized and offered a discount rebate for my wait and promised delivery within a week. Never received the rebate or delivery, another month goes by, no delivery. Start calling in December, left numerous voicemails, no response, numerous emails, blanket email responses that some of my colleagues have received. Last email sent on December 27, I informed them that if I did not receive contact from them in 3 business days I would begin disputed charges process with my CC. Well, I got no response, not even blanket email, so today I called my CC and got a credit to my card and they are initiating the process with Mountain City Supply. Do what you WILL with this info, sad when I try to support a USA company and receive the p>ss p>>r customer service that I got.

That business has very poor reviews and this is posted on their website:

WE HAVE A HIGH VOLUME OF EMAILS AND VOICEMAILS. PLEASE BE PATIENT WITH OUR CUSTOMER SERVICE DEPARTMENT, WE ARE WORKING HARD ON GETTING BACK TO CUSTOMERS VIA EMAIL. WE ARE NOT ACCEPTING PHONE CALLS AT THIS TIME, CUSTOMER SERVICE CAN ONLY BE REACHED AT [email protected]

OUR OUTLET STORE IS TEMPORARILY CLOSED. WE DON'T HAVE A TIMEFRAME TO RESUME IN PERSON SALES.

I gave up on them after multiple orders that didn't ship for months, though I had been already charged. Then, I had a underpowered squib lodge in the forcing cone on my revolver. The range master told me of a different customer that had blown his barrel in a 9mm with a squib from them only a few weeks earlier. He said he's seen too much trouble with consistency in their ammo.

FYI, I have found over the years that dealing with major players in this venue that 95% of these kinda issues don’t occur, meaning you don’t have to deal with this bravo Sierra.

Of course everyone wants to pay the least for anything that they buy, but are the hassles worth it? Idc what someone else’s experiences are, what matters to me is how my deal ends up.

I know 3 people that have got scammed thinking they were getting primers at pre nonsense prices. I even told two of them not to do it. One fellow lost over 2 grand.

There are too many reputable vendors to deal with out there! Why take a change?

I ordered five boxes of "private reserve" .380 from them last spring when .380 was very hard to find. They charged my credit card immediately but if I recall it was several weeks before the ammo shipped. They must use extremely hard primers because it wouldn't work in my Bodyguard. Most of the rounds wouldn't fire at all, even with multiple tries. However, they worked fine in my buddy's SIG P238. So we traded some ammo. I won't be making any future purchases from them.

I wrote it off as being related to the BG's reputation for light primer strikes, even though mine functions fine with every other ammo I've used.

I also bought five boxes of .38 special. I've only gone through one box (bag, actually) and they worked fine.

Thanks for the heads up, RETDOE. Not all companies are stand-up operations. Some are understaffed and overwhelmed. Doesn't mean they're a scam, but they can be a real problem to deal with.

For the few cartridges I don't handload, I buy nearly all from SG Ammo. A small, family operation. Very pleasant people to deal with. Lightning fast shipping and reasonable prices. Free shipping if you spend $200 or more. These folks are such a pleasure to deal with, it just doesn't make sense for me to go elsewhere for a small savings and potentially a lot of hassle.

For remanufactured ammo, like 9mm for plate matches, I go to LAX Ammo. Good ammo, prices are excellent and they offer deals now and then.

If I want something and can't get it from reputable, reliable, and established companies that provide perfect service like Powder Valley, Target Sports, and maybe one or two others that I've done business with for many years or decades, I probably don't need it at all.

To save a dollar or ten by doing business with potentially shady folks isn't worth it.

These guys are located in my little town. They used to have a retail storefront which was handy, but that has been closed for several months now for “remodeling”. Not much there to remodel - it was just an industrial type one room building with a gun counter with guns at full MSRP. The guys were slightly surly 30 somethings with black t shirts and tactical pants. I drive by there once in a while and there is no sign of remodeling going on.

They’ll still do local pickups for ammo, but you have to order it online, enter their address for shipping, pay for shipping, pick it up at the “factory” (building next door), and then they will refund the shipping to your card. My buddy has done it that way, but its too goofy for me.

Their ammo has been good so far, and its cheap. But the signs of imminent drain-circling are there, so I’m going to steer clear for a while.

I recommended them once here, but it was before all this. I regret it.
