hey guys, i have heard you all talk about carrying N frame guns, but there are not that many pics of them being worn. i would like to see a few pics of them being worn.

i would also like any info on an IWB N frame holster that is adjustable for cant if such a beast exists.

Thank you,

Longuner

I shoot an N frame in IPSC and can't imagine carrying it around all day. You're gonna need a lot bigger size pants if you're gonna tuck it inside the belt.

Revo shooters only need 6 to get the job done, then we take a little break to reload and do it again!!!

Sorry, no camera.

As guns get bigger, the holster, belt, clothing and the carrier's body must work in perfect harmony. A good hefty gun belt is a must. Carrying an N frame is very doable for many people, but it takes getting used to, and the only way to do that is to wear the thing. I carry a 5" full underlug 629 (read 3 lb. gun) all day at times, the more often I wear it, the easier it is.

The key to comfortable IWB carry is to not put it inside your pants, but between your belt and your pants. That way you don't need bigger pants or a smaller belly, you just need belts a couple inches longer.

I have carried my 625 MG a few times, but in a cheap-o Uncle Mike's IWB. It is actually a relatively light gun, with RB and pencil barrel.

Uh...that kinda defeats the purpose of IWB.

Not exactly the same concealment.....I have used this method with my P7....outside the pants you have to make sure you have enough cover garment for the bottom of the holster...it also hides a bit better IWB...:)

thank you all for such wonderful commentary.

i carry iwb all day long, i understand what i will need.

i would love to see pics of holsters and them being worn, if possible...from the ones that wear them..

True, although that's never been a problem for me. Another advantage in addition to not having to loose weight, buy new pants, etc., is that it offers better sweat protection for the gun during those difficult months of the year.

As does selecting a holster with a bodyshield.

I don't have a pic, and won't subject the good members of this board to that horror, but I carry a 4" N frame in a Sparks VersaMax 2 without any problem. You just have to adjust your wardrobe some as was stated earlier. A good gunbelt is an absolute must.

As far as finding an adjustable cant IWB for an N frame, I am afraid you will have to go to a custom maker and pay dearly. It is hard enough to find an IWB for an N frame to begin with.

Any chance you are left handed?

Not an IWB, but here's a fairly comfortable and concealable rig I made for an N frame.

I feel like a 4 inch 625-3 is a really good carry gun for me. Enough gun for almost anything I will run into.

When I go into bear country or when the mood strikes me I carry a 3” 629 in a Lobo IWB.

I carry the 2 inch also but that thing really kicks the snot out of my hand. The holster for the 2 inch is a Milt Sparks that cost me over $165 by the time I paid shipping for the gun both ways. They didn’t tell me I was going to have to send them the gun until I waited about 7 weeks. Not the happiest purchase of my life.

The one for my 4 inch is from Bullseye enterprises and cost me about $27 with shipping. It feels good and I like them to be low and deep behind my belt.

The lobo is still new to me, no pix wearing it yet but it feels good. I will buy more from him. I think I’m done with Milt Sparks.

I don't know if there is an IWB for an N model. I carry my model 58 .41 magnum in OWB Galco. Makes a nice fit and covers pretty good with a loose shirt. I'm a big guy too.

How so? You use the same waist, same gun, same holster, same concealment. What specifically is defeated?

The purpose of IWB is to eliminate the need to conceal that portion of the gun that resides below the waistband. If you have the holster outside of your pants, you are not covering the lower portion of the gun with your pants. You might as well use an OWB holster (since that is effectively what you have).

FWIW, I carry a 329pd (4" N frame) in a Galco summer comfort. It works, but it rides just a tad high on my frame, and I would prefer a bit lower riding holster.

Sometimes carry a 4 in N frame in a leather Fist #19 IWB holster. Even when carried IWB a good belt is an absolute must.

With a good belt a round butt N frame can actually conceal quite well, and I'm not a large guy. I wear Wrangler cowboy cut jeans.
