Will b receiving my permit by mail any day now . Iwb is really not an option for me at this time so what design wld b best for concealment for my m&p40c. Love the kydex type holsters and how they click into place but all seem to show too much . Usually where button down untucked shirts or tee shirt. Thinkin maybe a pancake with button snap belt loops and snap for action. Wondering what yall r doing in this situation. Thanks guys and girls

Leather pancake with thumb snap seemed to be the way ... But forenoon when I see all these plastic type that seem to lock in . Like the raven , just seem wide and uncomfortable while sitting

Fairly recent purchaser of Sigma, I'm thinking of going with OWB leather type, possibly style of what you see on S&W's site. Have seen quite a few that say how they keep the pistol high and close to the body. Kinda new to CC, so guess I'll be experiencing what I heard someone say...get an empty box, put it in your closet, pretty soon it'll be full of holsters till you find one you think is "perfect."

Your question is flawed. I read it and didn't reply for several reasons.

You are new and haven't figured out there is a search function. Once you figure that out, you type in 'OWB holster' and hundreds of hits come up where we have discussed the pros and cons of various OWB holsters for years.

There is no such thing as the 'best' OWB holster. One man's favorite is the Blackhawk Serpa and another's favorite is a Milt Sparks. So what would you like to hear is the best, Blackhawk or Milt Sparks?

Now if you would have asked 'Which OWB holster are you carrying your 40c in?? ' you would have received a lot more response on this thread. So before you get all testy that our response level isn't meeting your expectations, take a look at your post and ask yourself what you could have changed to get more replies.

How you take this constructive criticism is now up to you.

For an OWB consider the Don Hume 721 or 721 OT (open top). I have both. For some reason the 721 with the thumb break seems to have a better carry angle to me. As one poster said, get a box. If you stay in the game very long you build up a collection of holsters that were not quite what you wanted. BTW, there is no "best holster" just as there is no "best gun". The key is to obtain what you are happy with whether it's Don Hume, Milt Sparks or a whole host of other production, semi-custom, or custom gear.

You need to look at the holster and see how much of the pistol is hanging below the belt loops, some ride low some ride high. Unless you have long shirttails the barrel/holster may show very easily with normal movement. One of the highest riding holsters that I can think of is the Don Hume J.I.T. SLIDE

You'll have to determine which is right for you.

Thanks guys good input. Phrasing of the questions cld have been better . How yall were carring it was definetly Better route. Did purchase a leather blackhawk with thumb snap . Great holster even stiill not ad concealable as i wld like . May try a better belt as someone mentioned or maybe I'm not begin realistic about concealment of the .40c

M&P40c is very concealable, I conceal one everyday. I wear polo shirts, T-shirts, button down shirts, sweat shirts, tucked & untucked. About the only holster I use is the Comp-Tac MTAC. Maybe you could explain why a "Iwb is really not an option for me at this time"... price, pants to little, body build?

Don't know if it's "the best", but it sure works well for me.

Pant size is the problem . Most fitting tightly. Probably over time I cld upsize a few pair as I need them to fit my new lifestyle of ccw.

Looks good. This is the pNcake I got. Love it but again but of the gun shows a bit .

Pancake holsters work fine. You will have to realize that if you carry on the outside of the belt, a cover garment of some sort will be necessary if you don't want the bottom of the holster or gun to be visible. Depending upon where you live, this may be a legal problem. I wear a pancake holster from time to time with my Glock 17 and the bottom of the holster is visible, but most folks who see it don't appear to think a thing about it. Most men in our society now have so much stuff hanging off their belts it seldom gets a double look. Congratulations on the making the decision to become an armed citizen.
