My current EDC gun is a Ruger LC9 which I carry in a IWB Theis holster, but recently I picked up a sweet S&W 642. I'm looking for a holster for this one, and would really like a IWB, but if there are better options, I would like to hear them. This little sweetie also hides very well in my front pocket.

What are you guys using?

Thanks

I truly believe there is no better IWB than the Remora. Absolutely undetectable when worn properly.

Galco 158 and Active Pro Gear "j-hook" IWB's are also very good. Yes, I prefer maximum concealability. :D

Be safe.

I use either a Wraith IWB holster by Seth's Gun Leather or a Quick Clip IWB holster by Sideguard for my 642.

I bought an Uncle Mike's pocket holster and it's okay, but nowhere near as good as a Mika holster. Bob sent me one that pushes the slide out of battery on my M&P, and after he sent others and they didn't work then he sent me a pocket holster for BG380 when I wanted an IWB, well I am afraid there are some burned bridges between us. I really like his material and the way the gun slides from it. I guess I should have just shut my mouth and thrown away the holsters that didn't work so I could keep buying from him. I almost am considering having my brother order a Mika for me... :o

I just made a IWB that works fabulously for $10. It conceals the 642 better than the Blackhawk Compact Askins OWB I have, which is a nice holster also.

Ltlbear, do you have that Lobo IWB? Does it move around or fall forward?

What I don't like about those kind of holsters are the clips. I know there are few option regarding them, but the holster side clip is usually hard to pull off when it snags your clothes. If these are riveted on instead of slipped through a layer of leather, then I'd probably consider this one cause it looks great and at a reasonable price. I really don't want a huge holster (Crossbreed type) for such a small revolver.

Can you confirm which type this is?

Thanks!

I have a DeSantis and an Uncle Mike's (size 4) for my 642 and much prefer the Uncle Mike's although I use the DeSantis some too. Uncle Mikes is less expensive, much cooler in hot weather and more comfortable. A great holster.

I have a Galco Left handed paddle holster as well as a horsehide leather holster for my S&W 642 38 Spl. Most of the time this gun is my second gun and is in a pocket holster even when I carry it alone. The paddle holster for it though works great but usually has my CA Bulldog 44 Spl in it.

If you have large pockets, the pocket holster is a very good all around option I think. I can draw faster from it than I can my IWB or my Paddle Holster, especially if I put my hand on the gun before hand. They are cheap, work well but have to be replaced periodically when they get to where they don't draw from it well and try to come out with the gun. Someone told me that baby powder works well on the pocket holster, and it does help but I usually just buy a new one when I need it.

I have a S & W branded Galco speed scabbard. It conceals my 640 Pro perfectly under a camp shirt that is untucked. It is more comfortable and much faster on the draw than any IWB holster. I much prefer it when my attire allows it.

This one works quite well and replaced a veteran of 25 yrs. Maker is Bell Charter Oak, an S&W Forum Vendor.

Sorry it took so long to answer.
Yes I have the holster.
I love it.
It moves to a neutral position that fits your body unless you have a 1 3/4 gun belt then it does not tilt.
It is the most comfortable holster I have ever tried.
The clip is very good and it goes on and off very easy but grips under the belt when on. Great holster to be able to grab the gun, slide it in my pants and go.
Only issue is the mouth is not supported and it is difficult to reholster.
