I was a firm believer that appendix in-waist band carry (AIWB) does not work. Carried for almost 20 years and never found a rig that wasn't stabbing me in the leg, stomach, or printing badly...until now.

This PHLster City Special AIWB holster is super secure and comfortable. Sitting, driving, walking, etc...all very easy. The wing or "tuck strut" attachments facilitate concealment by driving the pistol's grip flat against the body. Concealing under an untucked polo. The revolver is a 640-2. It is a J Magnum frame chambered in .38 only, per NYPD specs.

Anyone else familiar with PHLster and its products?

I'm familiar with that holster, though I don't have one (yet!). My, um, "tactical waist padding" ( :o ) makes appendix carry uncomfortable, but hopefully there will come a time when I can try it. I like the City Special because the design actually helps with one-handed reloading. Have you tried that? I'd like to know how it works in the real world.

I do have the PHLster Flatpack tourniquet carrier. I use it for my SOFTT-W tourniquet, mounted horizontally on my belt, for times when I don't feel like strapping on my ankle trauma kit. It's a really nice piece of gear. Holds the TQ securely, but easy to release one-handed if needed. A little bulky, but with my clothing and "tactical waist padding" it conceals well.

They also make aftermarket sheaths for the TDI knives. Been considering trying one for my Investgator.

And, of course, they make kydex holsters that, as far as I know, get largely positive reviews.

In fact, I have tried the one-handed reloading. Did 50 rounds that way (9 reloads) earlier this week. It’s faster than the grip-under-the-belt method but still cumbersome. But, I usually don’t carry a speedloader unless toting a .44 Mag in bear country. Usual reload is a 2x2x2 on my belt.

This holster rides at the perfect height so no barrel sticking the leg. It holds flat against the belly/side when sitting. The tuck strut keeps it tight.

That TDI knife is cool. Bought one but have not used it. Ordered it from Ellifritz’s blog. EDIT: I mean the LDK knife. I have the LDK.

Supposed to be great holsters. I wish PHLster made a K Frame version.
AIWB is an acquired taste, but I once went there, the advantages were legion.

It’s been a couple weeks with this holster and now AIWB is my preferred carry method. Still have to use an ankle holster when business casual but for off-work time this works great. Here’s how it rides. It sort of stays to the side when I sit. Does not jam into my gut or thigh.
