New gang toy. Looks like something you replace your striker cover plate with, that turns a semiauto pistol into full auto.

In this report it’s said they’ve taken guns off the street, but have they taken gang members off the street?

Been around for several years. Saw the first one before I retired in 2015, maybe earlier . . .

I enjoyed the "News Hack" reporting: "They are looking into enhanced penalties if you commit crimes and are busted with a switch." Gee, you think? The Federal penalty will already be "enhanced" and has been since 1934. Joe

Just more sensationalism, disguised as news, intended to sell advertising slots.

The “cover plate” is an auto sear, which are highly regulated…

The “news story” first said they are easy to get on the internet. Later, it was mentioned that they’re not readily available. You think???

They also blamed straw purchases, 3D printing and an overabundance of guns. As the OP mentioned earlier, how about blaming revolving door justice and a lack of prosecution.
