three different Savage pistols
Three different Savage Pistols: The first is a 1907 380 Savage. they're kind of rare not many produced and not very popular. The second is a France contract used during WWI(Savage name on the side, serial # range, lanyard). The 3rd is a 1917 Savage with the wider grip.
Thanks for looking,
Joe

Savage really was a major force in the gun industry in the first half of the 20th century. Their war output was phenominal.

I have often considering getting one of those little Savage pistols when they show up at the local gun shows. I have passed on a couple in mint condition and regretted it later. I think they would be great plinkers!

I saw one of those 1907 models in .32 at a shop yesterday for $399. Their value keeps going up...

I always liked those old Savage pistols. Had a chance to buy one about 10 years ago in like new condition (don't remember the specific model) but of course didn't have the money at the time.

I have a 1907 in .32 ACP. It came in a hearing aid box that had been fitted to hold the gun and two magazines. I think the gun spent a lot of time in the box in someone's dresser drawer.
Bat Masterson wrote a leaflet about the gun for Savage. At the time he had retired from the West and was a sportswriter in NYC.

3 different Savage pistols
This Savage was my father in law's bed side pistol.
It ended up in his widow's safety deposit box with a full
clip & a round chambered-I went with her years later
to get it out of the box & it now resides in my gun room,
unloaded.

I made the mistake of dry firing my 'French' Savage, and broke the firing pin. Didn't have much trouble finding another pin, but had A LOT of trouble getting the beefy 2 inch long spring that surrounds it into the 1/2 inch hole for it. I don't dry fire it now.
Some years ago I was at the Albuquerque gun show and somone there had two Savage 45s out on the table. For sale. At high four figure prices.
