I've been thinking that I want something custom and would love to see others custom guns... Pictures are definitely a plus!

Thanks all!

Kind of a Old School custom. FN Commercial Mauser in .270. Has the Supreme action, light engraving. Detachable scope mount, FN FP rear hunting peep, and fully adjustable modular trigger.

Pre war PPC gun built on a 1908 M&P frame. I like the long action while shooting double action. Had the bbl and rib cut to 4 1/2" to reduce weight, ball detent lock and bead blast re-blue. Turned out to be an accurate gun. Larry

Unfortunately, I let this one go some 20 years ago. It was the best rendition of a Winchester High Wall I have ever seen, including various done by G&H. All that's left is a snapshot I took of the man who made it on the day I picked it up. I recently scanned the photo.

There are some we should never let go. This is one.

I had this built in the mid 80's by Jack Wiegand. A Para Ordinance p-14 frame with Colt Combat Commander slide.
Hammer, bbl, Meprolite night sights, beavertail and a bunch of other custom stuff.

Mine don't look like anything special.

This is a 28 in 38/40. Unless you look at it from the front, and see the bigger holes, it just looks like a 28.

This pair of Rugers are New Models, but they have had the transfer bar replaced, they have a four-click half-cock action now, like God and Col. Colt intended. And the blue one lost 2 inches of barrel, so it matches the stainless one. They just look like 5 1/2" Bisleys.

I guess some people do "custom" to make "pretty". I just do it to make the gun "mine". Ain't nobody else got one like that.

I have a Beretta Cougar that showed years of wear I customized recently.

That last picture reminded me. I didn't customize it, but I guess it's certainly custom.

1917, bobbed to 3 1/2", ramp front sight, wondersight rear, action job, and, as you might can see that little white spot on the crane. That's a spring-loaded ball bearing that goes into a recess in the frame, to act as a forward cylinder lock.

Well , depending on yer definition of 'custom' , here's a few that are definately not stock and modified by me to my liking.

My Ruger Blackhawk with stainless Super Blackhawk grip frame and superb action/trigger job. It's got a Millet rear sight since this pic was taken.

My Colt Mk.IV Ser.70 , done up in typical late 70s disco or IPSC-style. Millett sights , Videcki trigger , Kart barrel , stippled frame front , ring hammer , beavertail grip safety , lowered ejection port , extended ejector , f/l guide rod , beveled mag well , trigger job , etc.

Nitex finish (looks so like stainless), diamond rosewoods , Officers ACP grip safety , Bar-Sto barrel and higher sights are all this Commander got since it left the factory. It had ambi-safety , but I hate them.

I have one firearm that would certainly qualify as a custom gun. It is a RIA 1911. I got it for $280 (used) in Dec. 2011. A gentleman at Glock Times read of some problems I was having with the hammer spur and grip safety cutting the web of my hand during firing. There was nothing wrong with the pistol. The problem is that my skin is thin as as a consequence of being burned in 1998. He offered to see what he could do about making the pistol a little more user friendly for me. So... I sent the pistol off and a few month later, it came back vastly improved. So far I've put a little over 800 rounds through it. It will hold the nine/ten ring out to 25 yds. using 230 gr. FMJ ball ammo. The trigger, etc. are excellent and function is perfect, it will even feed empty cases. I only asked that the tang be removed. Ted did everything else gratis. The only change I've made is to add a set of walnut diamond checkered grips in place of the smooth one that came on the pistol.

I have no idea of how to post a picture. So... here is a link to the pictures: 452 | Flickr - Photo Sharing!

Not that it was smart to do, but in the past I have had done:

1. A winchester 92 in 25-20 to .357 and full refinish.
2. A winchester 73 in 32-20 to .38 special.
3. Had a martini built to .256 winchester mag.
4. Had a s&w 1917 to .45 colt with a .455 extra clyinder reamed to 45 colt, s&w target sights installed with a ramp front and beaver tailed hammer.
5. Had a 38-44 HD s&w rebored to .44 special and a model 21 barrel installed.
6. Had a .357 ruger blackhawk converted to .44 special.
7. Bobbed the hammer to a s&w model 60.
8. Had a 1890 winchester in .22 WRF re chambered to .22 WMRF.

Most of this work was done in the 1970s. In the winchesters the barrels were shot out and inaccurate. I had "IN`s" with several friend gunsmiths that did the work very cheap even for that time frame. All alterations did work very well and looked as professional as the few guru`s today are noted for and charged probley a small fraction of what they get.
I probley WOULDNT do most of it again, and for sure not for todays going prices. If I could find some cheap shot out winchester 92s, I would have them re chambered to .357 and .256 win mag. Thats about all that I might mess with again. I do own a few other custom guns that were made up before I got them. One is a 1911 remington-rand with a lot of work done by pachmyar in the 1960s and a beautiful mauser supream action fancy wood etc in .270 as a fine heavy varmiter or bench rest rifle by H.W. Creighton.

Marlin .22 levergun

Howdy,
I had a Green Mountain barrel for a 10-22 laying around and sent it to a fellow along with my Marlin 56.
He cut and re-chambered the barrel to a real match chamber spec. (Eley) Threaded the barrel and receiver and screwed it all together for me.
The self tuned trigger is the limiting factor now.
It shoots up a storm, looks cool to me and is good exercise when hauling it around the squirrel woods.

Neat thread full of neat stuff.
Thanks
Mike
