Here's my answer to Nancy Pelosi. I'm pending on an M16A1 with Ruben Mendiola and should have it by mid-summer if all goes well.

In the meantime, I've been gathering up a few accessories. Hedging my bet on high-cap magazines, I've bought a few dozen.

And uppers. . . . . . .

What is it they say? The AR platform is Legos for grown men!

The top is an original M16A1 upper with the standard 5.56mm 20" barrel and triangular handguard which dates to 1970's or early 1980's. It's new and unused. The one to come on the M16A1 will be just like this. I'll put the mileage on this one.

The middle is an M16A2 "Commando" upper. It has a 5.56mm 11-1/2" barrel. A mean little piece of equipment.

The bottom is the 9mm Submachine Gun upper. It has a 10-1/2" barrel in 9mm Luger. It has a Knights Armament rail handguard that the guy spray painted gray in anticipation of taking it to Afghanistan. He didn't take it, so it is new condition. I'll wash the gray paint off with solvent once the weather outside gets pleasant. There's no paint on the upper itself. I also have the standard M4 carbine handguards. This assembly is going to be fun and probably will get more use than any.

I've gone nuts!!

As I understand it you have to SBR the lower to mount two of those. You will need two tax stamps, one for the full auto and one for the SBR.

Nice going on the M16, I have not been able to talk myself into one.

According to ATF no SBR is needed on a Form 4 item as it already is a Title II weapon. If used on another semi-auto lower the SBR is required for that lower.

One must be careful to not have an extra semi lower without a 16 inch plus upper as ATF might construe your short barrel uppers usable with the non Form 4 lower. If you have any semi AR lowers without uppers you might consider storing the short barrel uppers at a different location.

Right. The machine gun Form 4 covers any barrel length. The weapon is classified a "machine gun" and thus not a "rifle". Therefore it cannot be a "short barrel rifle". There is no classification for "short barrel machine gun."

Having the liberty to use any length upper is one dividend of going through the Form 4 process.

And also correct about owning these with AR15 lower(s) present and no machine gun lower present. Not a problem for me, as I have no AR15 lower and never have owned one. These uppers are not "firearms" and not toxic absent a semi-auto lower with compatible pin size.

Our protective lady Nancy P. would swoon! Poor dear.

Wow. Let's see, fine English heavy sporting rifles, Early Triple Lock, and an M16 "system" too. Curl, you really are a Renaissence man. Hmmm, do I remember a Thompson, also? Great stuff, as always!
