My LGS has a LNIB (unfired) CZ75BD for $495 (they want $535 for a new one). Guy bought it, took it home, and decided he didn't like not having a safety. Is this a good deal? I would really like to get a CZ 9mm and this gun is exactly like new - I compared it to a new one and can't see any difference.

Thanks in advance for your advice/comments.

I believe the BD is the hammer-dropper, is it not? Some of the local Police are using those, and they're normal CZ-75's except that when you engage the safety, the hammer drops.

One of the nicer points of the normal CZ-75 is that it is "selective double-action", allowing you to carry hammer down or cocked-and-locked. With the BD model, you lose that ability.

If you want a CZ-75 with the hammer-dropping feature, that would be one thing. However, if you would prefer a CZ-75 that offers you the "best of both worlds" you should let it pass by. My opinion.

If you want the best out of CZ get the 75 single action or the newer model single action pistol. The over travel stop screw is important. Having had an 85 that was SA/DA I never ended up using the DA feature. Look @ the CZ custom shop for an idea on what can be done with these pistols. A small increase buys a lot more performance.

I think you should get it. It's a good price for a great gun. I prefer decocker a and the action on the 75bd is great. The 75bd is very accurate and fits well in the hand.

A 75BD is a decocker model. Not a safety.

A 75B has a safety and you must lower the hammer manually if you do not want it cocked after a shot like a single action but the gun is actually a SA/DA . It can be carried cocked and "locked" but there is no grip safety like a 1911. But it will shoot from a DA (hammer down position)

BUY IT or I will.:D:D I love CZ, most accurate out of the box 9mm around, Even gets better ofter 200 or more rounds.

A gun from CZ Custom is NOT a small increase, it is rather a big increase but the magic they do is incredible!:D

Mine is a compact, and the de-cocker system is just a natural for me. The gun shoots very well,(number of my associates have tried it and all really like it) real robust but not heavy, 10 or 14 rd. mags, feeds any ammo I've fired through it. I can't say enough good about mine. Over 10 years of use.
Add: the dbl action first shot is my preferred type for self defense, don't care for safetys and don't care for glocks.
Just an opinion from a man who owns one...

Thanks guys. I think I will get it. I like the first shot DA - it is what I am used to. I have a mint gen 2 G17 and might see if I can trade it for a 75 compact or a RAMI for CC.

I owned one of the first CZ 75 pistols that got brought into GA, back when they were from a Communist Block country and had to be brought in through Canada. I loved it, and later bought another one. Both are long gone now. Be aware that this is not easily concealed, as it is a thick pistol.

If you want a compact get the CZ 75D PCR. It is a alloy frame, not the heavy steel. Just wonderful gun.:)

Yes, mags are a bit expensive in the $40 and up range.

but the pistol. I have had at one time all of the CZ handguns. I like them. My carry gun is a PCR or compact 9mm. I shoot every thing double action including my carry gun and all my revolvers, I really like the decocker on the CZ's their .45's (model 97's) now come with a Decocker. I had a couple of them but I'm a dealer and I sold them. I keep one 97(not a decocker) for my self. I put it on half cock my self(I"m self taught on doing that) but buy the CZ, you'll never regret it. on my PCR I sometimes load 158 gr. SWC's in my 9mm cases and it works just fine. and if you ever see a CZ champion for sale, but it, you can't go wrong(OK, I"ve got one and I love it too!)

Shot my NIB CZ SP-01 Tactical .40 S&W for the first time two days ago. Its a "de-cocker". I'm/always have been a "1911" cocked and locked guy.

It was no problem and I loved it.

I would buy a CZ over a Glock any day regardless of the magazine cost.
