$10 Remington rolling block
In an old late 50s or early 60s gun magazine I have there's an ad selling wallhanger .43 caliber Remington rolling blocks for $9.95. They had no butt stocks and were really beat up. My dad bought one and made a stock for it. This gun has Egyptian markings. I've always pictured a guy like Omar Sharif riding across the desert on a camel carrying this thing. It is pretty light and points well. There's a similar gun in 50-70 made for N.Y. militia or something that I often thought about buying but never did. They seem rather common on the market.

Cool. I recall seeing plenty of these in .43 Spanish, not the same round. Does it function and have you ever shot it (found ammo for it)?
Looks as though your dad was a pretty handy woodworker.

No. The firing pin is froze up and the bore is trashed. It had a broken main spring forever, probably from me playing cowboy and indians with it so much as a kid. My brother in law's dad made a new one for it. My dad was a great carpenter and master wood carver. He carved this chain. And it wasn't the smallest one, either.

I went to a one room school from the 1st through the 4th grade. There were 3 brothers from another ranch and me.
Those boys had an old Egyptian RB that they brought to school. They shared it between them and me during recess. We killed a heck of a bunch of outlaws and Injuns with that and our cap guns.
When recess was over the rifle was put in the coat room and our cap guns went in our desks until it was time to go back out and fight again.
We hid our cap guns in a badger hole at night during the Korean War. We din't know who Stalin was, but we din't want
him gittin' our guns.

.43 Spanish and 11 mm Mauser ammo was available from "Old Western Scrounger" at one time. 20 round boxes were 'Not Cheap"

My old man bought a 43 Spanish back in the 70s. He thought he
was bidding on a 45/70. He gave it to me to off. The barrel was
full of half solidified "cosmoline" ? Anyway got that cleaned out,
barrel shined like a dime. I'm not sure that rifle had ever been
issued. Got set of used dies and bought Rapine mould. Made up
loads out of 348 Win. Brass. Ended up putting Numerich Kit
45/70 carbine on action. Rifle shot very good with original
barrel in 43 Span, not so good with Numerich Kit 45/70.
