Anyone carry a Glock 36 as their EDC?
The Glock 36 is sort of an oddity in the Glock lineup, I think. But I've recently been thinking about getting one.
Since last year, I've been carrying a Glock 30S (Short Frame) as my EDC. I like it a lot. It's a pleasure to shoot with the Pearce grip extenders on the mags, and its 10 + 1 capacity is a lot of firepower. It rides comfortably in an OWB Blackhawk Serpa holster on a 1.75-inch wide belt. Another big plus is it's a dime-a-dozen polymer frame pistol that rides in a plastic holster. I'm not worried about scratching it or about any dings it picks up in the woods or wherever. If I fell out of the boat and it went to the bottom of the lake, I could have another one exactly like it in an hour or two.
But I've been thinking lately of a Glock that's a little more slim, a little less weight, a tad more concealable. The reduced magazine capacity (single stack) isn't an issue for me. 6 + 1 .45s are still a lot of knockdown power.
So, now that I have the preamble out of the way...anyone carry/shoot one? If so, how do you like it? Pros? Cons? How do you carry it? I'm not big on IWB. I've read articles/reviews about it online and in print, but I want to hear from real, non-website, non-magazine people who have no ax to grind, no profit motive to say the "right thing", okay?
And let's don't turn this thread into one of those Glock-vs.-This-or-That threads, okay? The Glock's what I'm curious about...not Smiths, Springfields, Rugers, Sigs, CZs, or whatever. Nor am I interested in changing calibers...the .45 acp is it for me as far as a self defense round goes.
If you have a 36, tell me about it. Thanks in advance for any input.

Don't have one, but those who do say use 185 grain bullets, not 230.

I do not own a Glock 36, but my son had two
Both were problematic, one was under a frame recall. Everyone of the fifteen Glocks I have purchased have been taken back to Smyrna for sights or service. Each time I made the trip I have seen a customer there with a Glock 36 who was unhappy with their 36.
Most were also full of aftermarket parts.

I carried my G36 for years.
Mine always goes bang and is accurate but when I bought my Shield 9mm, which recoils much less and has an extra round and is slimmer and lighter, my G36 was relegated to my 2nd or 3rd carry choice.
I think it's a really good choice. But certainly not the only one.

I don't know how sights can be an issue. If the gun for instance is shooting 6" low that is the shooter and not the sights. I have the Glock 30 and I love this gun, it is very easy to conceal and have no intention of single stack

Accuracy, or the lack of it, isn't the only sight issue. Glock sights from the factory are plastic...also referred to as cheap...and can be easily damaged or completely knocked off the slide.

I have a G36 as EDC and am quite fond of it. I also shoot it in GSSF competition and have never had a problem with it. I do reload for it and I use the Berry HBRN 185 gr that has the same profile as a 230 gr ball round. No actual round count but must be in the area of 1500 without a bobble of any kind, factory equipment all, nothing changed.

I carried a Glock 36 for a few years. No problems with the gun.
I tried a Glock 30 but the slimmer grip of the 36 fit my average size hand better.
I now carry a Glock 19.

I had one several years ago. Nothing wrong with the gun but it felt like a 2x4 in my hand. Just couldn't get used to it. I have heard that the 36 has been plagued with problems. But I don't know if that's still true.
Personally I would stick with the 30s. It's not that much bigger.

Bought one 3 years ago and intalled XS BIG DOT sights on it right away.
Take it to the range often and practice 7 to 15 yards. Never any issues with all different kinds of ammo. Find I need to shoot it often to shoot well. Maybe the XS sights contribute to that? Prefer the pearce extention magazines with my big hands.
Find I shoot others guns better, but they are bigger steel guns (4506, 1911). Impossible to carry in Maryland but have 4 guns I'm practicing with for CCW for after retirement and life in a gun friendly southern state. The model 36 will be in the rotation for sure.

I had a 36 for about 10 years. Don't remember now why I got rid of it. I liked it a lot. Very reliable. It even fed 175 gr SAECO SWC cast bullets. Downers: with full charge ammo, particularly 230 gr +P, recoil was fierce. I guess you wouldn't notice it in combat but I'd hate to train with full charge 230s. Also, I noticed my little finger got pinched betwen the bottom of the frame and the top of the magazine floorplate. There's a gap there, and enough finger goes into the gap that you get pinched when the gun recoils.
I'd get another without hesitation. I carried it in a yaqui holster, outside the waistband.

I did not say sights were an issue. I said I took them back for sights and service. As someone else stated, standard Glock sights are polymer and break. I change the stock sights to NS or steel sights. I live about 35 miles from Glock, Inc., it is just a few hours out of my day..

I'm not a big fan of Glocks, but my 36 is one of the most comfortable guns I carry. Pros are it is slim, reliable, and relatively accurate. I'm normally a 1911 guy but the G36 beats them in the comfort category.
Cons are they are ugly, I hate the trigger, and they are only 6+1, but as the saying goes, If you need more than six, you lost.

I know. That's the only thing I don't like about the Glock I carry.
Well, that and the fact that it isn't a Colt. If I ever find an earlier Series 70 Combat Commander like I want, the Glock will be relegated to the kitchen drawer, and later to the classifieds. Matter of fact, I actually did find one last week, but having to put a new clutch in my ol' truck put a serious crimp in my gun buying activities.

That's what I carry now. Just looking at other options.
